Great house, neighborhood is awesome. Great local restaurants and bars. Walking distance to stadiums and downtown. Came to Pittsburgh for a game and a little sightseeing and lived like a local for a few days!
We had a great trip. The location was convenient to Heinz Field and walking distance to many restaurants. The caretaker Jana was very helpful and lives just two doors down. Sally and Richard were very easy to contact during the booking process and were able to answer all of our questions promptly. The town home was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed. The only negative I would say is that the living room furniture was not very comfortable. We stayed in one night to watch a movie and for four of us, it was a bit of a struggle to get comfortable for a two hour stretch. Other than that night, we were out and about most of the weekend, so it really worked out fine for us. We would stay here again if we had business in the Pittsburgh area. Thanks so much, The Russell Family
We rented this neat townhouse for our son's graduation weekend (Hail to Pitt!) It was SO much nicer than staying in a cramped hotel room. The house was clean and well-equipped ~ the kitchen had nice new appliances, everything we needed & was more spacious than we expected. There were plenty of towels, and the beds were comfortable too. The owners are not on-site, but were very friendly & helpful prior to our stay; and the manager gave us great suggestions about the neighborhood & was there to welcome us when we arrived. We enjoyed the patio on Friday afternoon for a happy hour to kick off our celebration weekend. In addition to graduation ceremonies, we went to the Thursday afternoon Pirates game (walking distance & beautiful view of the city), visited the Mattress Factory (right around the corner), picked up groceries at the Allegheny Market (walked; just a few blocks away), and walked to local restaurants: dinner at Benjamin's on Thursday, and Nicky's Thai Kitchen on Friday (BYOB) ~ also within walking distance, Crazy Mocha's one morning. On Saturday night we dined at Legends of the North Shore, and enjoyed delicious Italian food (also BYOB). We attended a wonderful Mass on Sunday morning at St. Peter's on Arch St. The North Side/Mexican War St. neighborhood was quiet, the neighbors very friendly to us, and we found parking easily on Resaca Pl. close to the house. My only regret is that we didn't discover this gem of a home sooner! We would definitely recommend this house and will certainly consider staying here again on a visit to Pittsburgh!
We loved our stay here...The garden area is lovely for morning coffee, although it turned cold our last few days. Heard they had a really tough winter. The house is in a gorgeous area with interesting history and cool little shops & lots of things to see: art gallery, aviary, housing for artists who have been persecuted and driven out by their governments. The bus stops 3 blocks away so you can also go outside the area easily. Owners are friendly and helpful with little hints of things to see and do. Our niece & her husband live in Pittsburgh and we would gladly stay here again when we return.
This was our second stay in this lovely house. We love the proximity to the stadiums, a beautiful park, and great restaurants. But probably the best part is the neighborhood itself! The people are friendly in this charming area, and it doesn't take long to realize there is a real sense of community in this neighborhood. This has become our go-to place to stay when in town.
Located on a quiet tree lined street very near the "Mattress Factory" Art Gallery, this lovely townhouse is set back from the sidewalk and is entered through a garden gate and path that leads through blossoming plants to the front door. The housekeeper greeted us with lots of good suggestions for restaurants and things to do - in addition to the plans we already had. Walking into "Town" is an easy 20 minute walk, through a lovely park and past the Pirates Stadium. We enjoyed perfect weather so that made our stay extra enjoyable. The owners were most helpful before our arrival, suggesting "things to do" and we did nearly all of them. Our main focus for the trip was to go to Mill Run, PA to see Frank Lloyd Wright's "Falling Water - a must see if you are interested in architecture. We attended the Pittsburg Symphony - superb ! We took a City tour on a double decker bus and learned not only the history of Pittsburg, but also things we wanted to investigate further. Pittsburg offers many very interesting museums and art galleries, no shopping in the city per se - but plenty of other things to do. Nearby are two very good restaurants within an 5-10 minute walk. This house is charming, perfectly located, clean, sunny. Its only drawback, very steep stairs accessing the bedrooms and only bathroom upstairs.
