Our 'Monte Alentejano' (Old Farmhouse) is located on the outskirts of the small village of São Luís with a view of nature and about 15 km from the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Vincentina. The guest house has 2 rooms with separate entrances, each with its own bathroom. There is a large fruit and vegetable garden and chickens. Enjoy the peace and serenity of rural life.
The house is on a hill, with a view of our beautiful, naturally overgrown valley. This covers 10.5 hectares, mainly cork oaks, pines and olive trees as well as our large organic fruit and vegetable garden, it is flowed through lengthwise by a stream and offers many places to observe nature. The house is made of rammed earth (Taipa) and therefore remains pleasantly cool in summer, it was completely renovated in 2016. We have a large terrace area with tables, chairs, a small outdoor kitchen, hammocks, couch and grill - mostly covered and so usable all year round, but especially shady during the day.
The two rooms with their own entrance are:
1. A 'studio' with approx. 34 m², a double bed, a folding sofa bed, kitchenette, own dining table and open fireplace as well as a spacious bathroom (2 to max. 4 people).
Second A 'double room', approx. 16 m² with double bed and private bathroom (2 people).
The small village of São Luís can be reached on foot (10 min) or by bike, there is everything you need incl. Cafes, restaurants, pharmacy, a small market hall etc. Otherwise, we are mainly surrounded by forests and meadows, which invite you to hike, ride and cycle (e.g. Long Distance Hiking Rota Vincentina). We are on the edge of the 'Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina' nature park, whose beaches are about 15 minutes away. to reach by car.
Lisbon and Faro airports are approximately 180 and 140 km away, respectively. You can reach us by public transport (preferably with Rede Expressos from Lisbon), but we recommend a rental car if you want to explore the area and beaches, etc.
Children are welcome. We have various bicycles, guitars, surfboards and parasols for rent (sometimes for a fee - please clarify before arrival). Please bring your own beach towels.
We live most of the year in the main house and have a lovely dog, chickens and bees. Our guests are received personally and we are always available for questions and tips. If you are interested in our garden, which is managed according to permaculture principles, you can also help out - the reward is fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and honey from our own production (depending on the season).
