Bem-vindo ao 'Hale Lokahi', onde a única coisa entre o va e o oceano é a longa praia de areia que parece ir por milhas. A va à beira-mar coberto corre a toda a largura da casa, então você tem um lugar na primeira fila de que para ver pôr do sol escaldante sobre o oceano em direção à ilha de Niihau. Há muito poucas casas reais frente à praia no Westside, como a maioria tem uma estrada entre a casa e para o oceano. Mas não aqui!
Você pode andar para tudo e qualquer coisa a partir desta localização. O Rio Waimea é apenas curta distância a pé oferecendo possibilidades de pesca e caiaque. Em menos de 5 minutos, você pode caminhar para um dos grandes supermercados em Waimea, vários restaurantes e lojas, ou vá a um filme no Waimea Theater Historic. Since my review wasn't published the first time, I thought I'd try rewriting it and sending it again. This time I edited it more so that maybe they'll actually publish someone's that isn't a 5 star rating. These reviews should be fair and not biased by only listing the 5 star ones. This was our first time to Kauai. The main goal was oceanfront, private and quiet. The description fails to mention while it is oceanfront, there are cars & trucks that drive on the beach in front of the lanai at all different times of the day & night and everyday. This beach isn't a swimming beach either. So these two things were a real downer to our 9 night stay. The pros, the house was well laid out and spacious for our family of five. Had AC, washer/dryer, cabinets had everything we needed. No dishwasher, however. Lots of windows to look out at the water. Unfortunately, the neighbors out front of the house right across the narrow road had multiple dogs that barked continuously. Thankfully, we were in and out of the house and didn't have to listen to it all day. The dogs barking made the roosters a welcoming way to awaken to each morning. After contacting the manager after two days about the vehicles driving on the beach in back of the house from the lanai... and being very upset about it. As well as a homeless camp just down the road. He did offer to let us move to a condo further towards town but it was a smaller place and we didn't know anything about the other place, so we chose to stay put. I wouldn't rent here again. While the house was older but well equipped and was fine that way. The other elements couldn't be overlooked. If these types of things don't bother you, then I believe the house itself with the ocean view would be worth it.
This vacation has been a long time dream that was put into motion in early 2015. We had searched Homeaway.com for island rentals and found this wonderful gem that was the perfect place to spend the second week of our time in paradise. Although the beach is not for swimming, it is a beautiful brown sand and you are right there for the sea breeze and the surf to put you to sleep at night. Walking the beach was great, watching the whales, and taking walks to the main street of Waimea to stroll through the shops or get lunch at a local restaurant was enjoyable. Great ice cream shop too. We would not hesitate to return to this island and this wonderful home away from home.
This is our 4th year staying at Hale Lokahi, and we've already put down a deposit for next year. Everything you've read about the house from others is spot on. Chad is easy to work with and Sarah took care of a broken screen door in one day - exceptional customer service. We've rented other VRBO houses, and none of them have the well-stocked kitchen that this home has - especially dry goods (spices, pasta, rice, canned goods) and refrigerator condiments (salad dressings, sriracha, wasabi, soy sauce, mayo, relish, other surprises). We love walking to Ishihara's every morning to get a newspaper and something fun for lunch (which flavor of poke today?) or contemplate what to grill for dinner (Kekaha shrimp? Char Sui chicken? Teriyaki beef?). Wrangler's is fun for dinner, and a walk via the beach to Kalapaki Joe's is fun, too. Don't forget to have a shaved ice and eat at the Shrimp Station. Dragging out chairs every evening to watch the sunset with a glass of wine, returning to cook dinner, laying on the beach after dinner to marvel at the stars, and falling asleep to the sound of the waves relaxes us beyond belief (as evidenced by my husband's FitBit). So much to do on Kauai! Absolutely love love love this house!
Hale Lokahi is a nice home with all of the basics and a few extras.
It’s comfortable and casual – perfect for a Kaua’i vacation
We use VRBO almost exclusively when we travel, we particularly appreciated that this house had:
• Ample towels - for bath, beach and kitchen
• Beach chairs
• Gas Grill
• Outdoor table & chairs
• Covered deck
If possible, you should arrive at the house before you do any shopping. The house is very well equipped and well stocked.
Sarah, the property manager, is a gem. We encountered 2 issues and Sarah was responsive and helpful with both. I do want to emphasize that neither was a problem with the home itself (in one case the city briefly turned off water w/o notifying anyone, and the other was a Time Warner issue w/ the internet). One benefit of running into these issues, is that we got a chance to meet Sarah, she really is a wonderful person. All renters can take comfort in knowing she is around if you should need her.
We love the location. It's away from the major tourist areas, just steps to Ishihara Market, and an easy drive to numerous beaches and other sites. The views of the beach from the deck are magnificent, and the sounds of the waves are hypnotic. As others have mentioned, it's not the most pristine water due to the proximity of the river. It should be noted that people do drive onto the beach - so you will have some "traffic". Just part of the local flavor.
Finally, we appreciated the flexibility of being able to have a late checkout before our red-eye flight back to the mainland for a reasonable rate. Leaving paradise is never easy, but having a late checkout makes it so much more convenient.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Chad was easy to work with and gave us helpful tips for our stay. The house had so many extras (like snorkeling equipment and beach chairs) that came in handy and saved us a lot of time and money. The sound of the ocean lulled us to sleep every night, and the town is within walking distance. We spent most days at Salt Pond Beach--stunning and close by. The Shrimp Shack is a do not miss. Also be sure to go to Waimea Canyon. We went twice during our week-long visit. The stargazing from the beach in front of the house is amazing! I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!
We loved our stay here! the view from the house everyday was such a treat! The sunset's were amazing! The house was fully stocked with everything we needed! Wish we would of gone to the house before we went to Costco! Chad was fantastic to work with! Very helpful and professional! Highly recommend this property!
