This was a nice property with lots of space for a family of 4. 2 king-size beds in 2 rooms and then another room with a bunk bed and 2 single beds. All were comfortable. Open concept main area with lots of space and furniture. Television is small by today's standards. Good supply of games and fun things and a well stocked kitchen. Good instructions on how to get there. Location is pretty good with a drive of about 30 minutes to heart of Charlottetown and 40 minutes to Souris. Probably about 45-60 minutes to Cavendish.
A few small negatives: kayaks need to be taken from store room down to waterfront which is a shallow murky area. Because they were relatively heavy thus requiring some effort to get 3 different watercraft down to the water for 4 people to use, we ended up not using them. Because the water front is a natural grime, you can't really swim from there. Secondly, while the property does come with a dishwasher, there were only 2 tablets in stock and when I e-mailed the owner she indicated that renters are expected to supply their own. This was somewhat of a downer in an otherwise very well stocked property because I didn't really expect a need to bring dishwasher soap- all other cleaning supplies, tin foil, plastic wrap, etc, etc were supplied.
Overall a very positive impression and PEI itself is absolutely fabulous. Check out the Trailside Music Cafe just west down the road on the #2, 500 metres off the road at the gas station. We only went there on the last night and the music and the food were great. A mixed crowd of local regulars and away people.
Set in a.small grouping of cottage lots, the cottage is fairly new and very comfortably furnished. The neighbouring cottages are fairly close by, however, there weren't many other vacationers there the week we stayed so it was quiet and peaceful.
The view across the lake was lovely. I wished there was a comfortable seating or dining area on the deck as it's the most unique feature of the cottage.
Otherwise there are good amusements for the kids both inside - boardgames, tv/vcr- and outdoors - kayaks, canoe. The North shore beach itself - we drove once and kayaked another day - is stunning. Very dramatic dunes and the inlet that joins the beach to the lake is fun to explore. There were few visitors when we were there which made it even more magical.
King's County is one of the less touristy areas on the island which has its upsides and downsides depending on the kind of holiday you're looking for. It's very peaceful and quiet - at least when we were there - but with fewer restaurant and amusement options to choose from.
We really enjoyed cycling the Confederation Trail. One of the most popular legs on the trail is the Morell-St Peter's Bay section (11 km one way) which starts about 4 km away in Morell, as it is one of the rare waterside trails. It's a great trail for cycling - well maintained, signposted and even.
The ladies at the Morell Information Centre - where you can also rent bikes and watercraft - were so friendly and helpful.
This property was perfect for our family of four. Clean, comfortable, and spacious. It was wonderful to have the kayaks available to us, and we put them to good use! :-) Morell is a nice town to stay in -- we drove to Charlottetown, Cavendish and the Points East Coastal Drive. Rented bikes right in Morell too. We all said we'd stay in this cottage again in a heartbeat!
This house has a nice combination of whimsical personal touches and modern conveniences. The common area is spacious and flexible. The views are beautiful, yet you can bring in young children without the fear they will fall off a cliff.
My trip to the Plovers Nest was incredible. The cottage is an idyllic setting the skyscapes, sunrises and sunsets are incredible. The Kayaking is superb St.Peters Lake is right out your door paddling to the gap in the dunes brings you to the most beautiful unspoiled beaches I've ever been to. The Morell River just minutes away is a fantastic place to paddle going upstream you are almost sure to see bald eagles and wildlife galore and that just sets the table to paddle out in St.Peters Bay to the working fishing harbor at Red Harbor as picturesque as any in all of the Maritimes.
I also enjoyed such sites as the National Historic village at Roma,East Point,NorthLake and the Greenwich Dunes. Shopping at the Morell Co-Op is a pleasure there is a wonderful farm stand a few kilometers away .It was a pleasure to sit on the deck eating dinner watching the glorious sunsets Bob Sohm
To Further amend my review it should 5 stars . My computer does not allow me to see the rate your stay panel. My stay here was fantastic and I am anticipating a return next september Bob Sohm
PEI é chamado de "O Jardim do Golfo".
