Beautiful property, very friendly host, amazing amenities. Little bit farther from the beach than expected.
We stayed for a month at Villa Amarilla with our two children. It was a great base to explore the Pacific coast and very close to Manuel Antonio and beaches south. There was also a local beach through a jungle path, about 25 minutes each way (walking), a bit strenuous so jumping in the pool after walking back was great. Easy walk down to the marina in Quepos where we had a lovely Christmas dinner at Gabriella's. Squirrel monkeys scampered around the property, and a pair of scarlet macaws lived across the street, greeting each morning with loud squawking. We felt very lucky to get to see these beautiful birds daily. The house was very comfortable, and we spent many lazy mornings on the patio having coffee and watching the bird life. The beds were awesome! Most rentals have mediocre beds, these were instead better than our bed at home. Our teenager had the room below and enjoyed the privacy. Concierge Susan was a great help in booking tours and providing advice. A local bus was very convenient to Manuel Antonio national park and the beaches just before the park, the bus stop was just down the street and the bus was cheap. A car would be useful for exploring further south (Dominical, etc.) All in all a wonderful stay in a beautiful place.
The villa was in a perfect location between quepos and Manuel Antonio. We used it as home base and traveled up and down the coast. We have an attentive consierge who books tours and helped acquaint us to the area. While the weather was at the tail end of the rainy season, it's warm rain and didn't hinder our ability to have fun. Ticos are the friendliest people in the world, it's a laid back culture and we got to truly relax and let go of our responsibilities back home. I highly recommend using Mike as your tour guide through Manuel Antonio park. He was born and raised here and the other guides follow his lead. Amazing experience. If you've never been here, this villa is a great introduction To life in Costa Rica.
We stayed in Villa Amarilla for 3 nights and it was just what we needed for our family. The house was as advertised, we had everything we needed for cooking, plenty of pool/beach towels. The washer / dryer (downstairs) also came in handy. Be aware that the third bedroom/bathroom is downstairs and is not connected directly to the upstairs main unit from inside so it's not necessarily possible to have children sleeping there alone depending on their age. The grounds are really nice and we enjoyed the pool, it almost feels like a pond in the forest. The villa is between Quepos and Manuel Antonio so we had easy access to everything.
We stayed at four different VRBO homes during our extended stay in Costa Rica. This home ranked 3rd out of 4. Its a good location in a quaint and quiet complex but the home is a little tired. It could use an upgrade in both amenities and linens.
We had a great time at the villa. A great experience upon arrival, meeting up for keys and information on the villa. Pool was great, location was good - close to groceries, restaurants, everything. Loved the monkeys in the trees outside our porch! A toucan flew past me walking on the path to our villa.
The only downside was that the kids didn't want to sleep alone and there weren't any stairs joining the upstairs and downstairs so the kids slept upstairs on the couches. We all enjoyed our time in Manuel antonio
