Lovely upstairs unit with a nice view of the lawn area. Unit had a full kitchen and dining area with all the amenities of home - microwave, coffee maker, et al. Comfy bed and nice TVs in both livingroom and bedroom. The Kiahuna Plantation offers free parking and provides towels and chairs for beach goers. Pool and athletic center are a short walk across the street. Also across the street is a little shopping center with some great restaurants and a Starbucks. I would definitely recommend this property and unit.
This was our third vacation at Kiahuna and our second stay at this particular condo -- we love this place every time. Kiahuna is a quiet, green, lovely gem where walking to a beautiful, swimmable (in both winter and summer) beach is easy and pleasant. While in the condo, we enjoy the birds singing, the greenery and flowers, and the general mellow vibe of Kiahuna. This condo is quiet, bright and clean, and the new furniture and bed make it just perfect for us. The lanai is lovely to sit on with afternoon sun, and even when we were inside preparing meals, we had the lanai doors open so the breeze through the screens, and the view of the expansive lawn and skies, made me feel like I was still outside. The Hawaiian CDs are a great touch to make the vacation complete. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is because I wish the condo had a view of the ocean, but other than that it is perfect....and the view is pretty with lawn and trees. Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us! We'll be back as often as we can!
Overall, we enjoyed the location of this unit very much. It was located on the second floor so there was a nice breeze and the balcony was great The unit needs some updating though. Also, the television in the bedroom would only work sometimes and we could only get audio with no picture. The location of the light switches were also not in obvious places. Our key card did not work one afternoon and it took property management over an hour to get us back into the unit so we were stuck sitting in front of our door since it was pouring out and really had no where else to go.
Kiahuna plantation is a superior place to stay. We've admired the location and grounds on previous trips and finally opted to stay here. We'd highly recommend it - the location is perfect with a good beach and short walk to snorkeling at Poipu. The grounds are beautifully maintained and the short walk across the street to shops, restaurants and the athletic club can't be beat. (Quick note on the athletic club . . . Small pool and spa, great weight room and tennis courts, good cardio room. But, no yoga or other classes except water aerobics. Apparently they had these in the past and may again. I mention this because my wife was looking forward to yoga classes . . . .luckily she found one at the Sheraton next door.)
This unit is upstairs and the only one with a second floor entry - the units on either side are two story. The building is a way from the road, so very quiet . . .for the most part. Since there is no a/c anywhere, everyone keeps there door and windows open all the time. You can hear the neighbors when the doors are open, but everyone during our stay kept the noise down (except one night). Also, since sound carries quite a bit, we could hear people partying until 2 a.m. a few nights from neighboring buildings. We mentioned it to security finally, and they managed it.
This unit itself is clean but in need of serious updating. The furniturein the family room is shot, the shower door is missing a handle, the dishwasher sticks, the CD player doesn't work, the DVD player sticks, etc. There are no instructions on . . . anything so be resourceful.
The owners acknowledged these things . . . after we arrived . . . and indicated
that changes were coming. We would definitely stay here again if that takes place.
Overall, we mostly loved it . . . it would be a 5 star review if the unit wasn't so tired.
Lovely grounds, excellent restaurant and location. Unit was clean but not very well maintained.Sony stereo is not working nor was the disposal. Somewhat tired furnishings and needs a facelift overall. A broken chair and broken front door louver slat. Good customer service from the owner and I would recommend it to others. The Botanical Gardens tours are a wonderful experience!
Kiahuna is an amazing place to stay - lots of space for kids to run and just a wonderful, relaxed atmosphere. The beach is a bit rough for young kids but the pool across the street is perfect with a sand bottom kids' area and water slide. Can't wait to return!
