Would stay here again!

This house has everything one could ask for, when traveling with a large group. Well stocked, and clean, it was a pleasure to base our Yellowstone adventures from this house.

The kitchen was perfect for preparing meals for a large group. We were able to work efficiently, and quickly, and it certainly helped that we had a crock pot. At night we were able to choose between gathering around a huge indoor dining table, or venturing outside, for outdoor dining on the lawn. The house is on a little traveled road, so it was nice to eat outside. We were also provided with soccer chairs, that enabled us to sit anywhere we chose, outside of the house, or in the National Park.

Lots of sleeping space, and the bathrooms were spacious and stocked with lots of fluffy towels.

While it takes a few minutes to get to town, we enjoyed the ride, every time, and often saw wildlife en route to picking up supplies. The Yellowstone Border, is literally minutes away, so that is also a plus, when selecting a location. We drove through West Yellowstone on our way to Gardiner, and I have to say, Gardiner was definitely the better choice when it came to selecting a town.

Lovely home close to the North entrance of Yellowstone

Beautiful old farm house that has been remodeled. Bedrooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked with towels and washcloths. Kitchen was fully stocked with dishes and utensils. The house worked perfectly for our two families for a total of 8. We did not have to use the 3rd floor extra rooms. The whole house was very clean and comfortable.

The owner was quick to respond when the heat needed to be turned back on for the cold front that moved in with temperatures in the lower 30's. Someone was there within 10 minutes.

If we ever get back to the area we would rent the house again!

A great spot close to YNP North Entrance

The size and location of the Historic Farmhouse were perfect for our family vacation to hike and explore and fly fish in YNP. We arrived in 3 cars, and found ample room for parking. Our family included 4 couples and a 2-year-old. Right away, the ‘resident’ bunny roaming the yard was a hit for our little one. Early one morning, we were treated to a herd of mule deer quietly grazing on the property’s well-manicured yard! In the field across the dusty road, we spotted a fox one afternoon standing over prey and then pouncing. Another day, elk sat under the shade of a tree by the entrance to the property. Then there are the magpies perched on the fencing alongside the road …! All this added to the bounty of wildlife we encountered in YNP.

Getting to the house requires driving on a 3-mile dusty dirt road once you get off highway 89. But it is well maintained. Now and again a water truck wets it down to control the dust. The house itself is large and clean, clean, clean! The beds are all very comfortable, and bathrooms nicely supplied with linens and soap/shampoo. The big kitchen is well equipped and the dining room simply terrific. The dining table is large, becoming a great spot for after-dinner board games. (Unfortunately, there is no recycling available in this immediate area.)

We didn’t watch TV and didn’t use the washer and dryer, so no opinions on those.

The home has Internet connection, no cell service, but there is a land line with which we could easily communicated with Thom about our needs. He is helpful and very responsive.

Gardiner has a modest and nicely stocked grocery store, located such that one can conveniently pick up items on the way back to the farmhouse after a day in YNP. We did take-out one evening from Yellowstone Pizza Company in Gardiner, and the thin crust pizzas were all excellent!

When we arrived, we found a couple of minor issues - a slow draining bathtub and a tough-to-close en suite bathroom door - which we reported to Thom only after we left, so hopefully subsequent guests will find those issues addressed, and the house even better than perfect.

In all, we had a wonderful time in this comfortable large home, and would definitely go back!

Excellent Home base for our YNP Trip

13 of us (including 5 kids) had a great stay at this home on our trip to YNP. Home is very clean, well maintained and well stocked. Rooms are well furnished and decorated. Big Kitchen & Dinning Area are a plus. Kids enjoyed their own rooms at top floor and had great fun over board games & Elk friends outside. Great amenities (Wifi, SAT TV, Outdoor,..etc) There is a good collection of books and DVDs. Thomas is very friendly and quick to respond on any questions. No mobile signal...was just a minor let down, but who cares when you are on a vacation :) Home has a land phone anyway.

Everything a Large Family Needs Near Yellowstone

Two branches of the family met for their annual get together: this time to tour Yellowstone and we couldn't have picked a better place!

All 11 of us (ages 13 through 80), from teenagers through to seniors, found exactly what we needed in this large, well maintained and clean house:

- Seniors (who had reduced mobility) had a nice, spacious bedroom on the ground floor, just steps from a full bath, the kitchen and dining room.

- Teenagers had various bedrooms including: bunk beds, and bedrooms up in the attic.

- Adults also had multiple choices including the master with ensuite.

All bedrooms were very well appointed with clean, modern linen and (a big plus) enough pillows for everyone! Each bedroom (on all floors) had its own a/c unit so no complaints except by roommates. Bathrooms had plenty of towels, soap and shampoo/conditioner.

With WiFi and satellite tv, everyone could spread out and decompress as they wanted after long days of exploring the park. A well equipped kitchen plus a decent sized grocery store in Gardiner made family dinners "at home" easy and affordable.

The location made it easy to get to/from the town and park and, overall, I think we saw more wildlife around the house than in the park!

The following "problems" are very minor and shouldn't make anyone hesitate to stay ...

- Grounds: don't expect to be sunning on a golf course green; this area is very arid and there's lots of dust and sun!

- Range hood: underpowered, to say the least; if you're going to fry fish be prepared to suffer the consequences!

- Clothes washer: Gets the job done but expect it to take much longer than you may be used to.

- Cell service: None. Zero. Nil.

Overall, the best choice, by far, for our large, extended family!

Amazing stay for our family reunion.

9 of us (ages 3-68) has a wonderful stay. The home was clean and well stocked. The welcoming committee (large herd of elk in the front yard) was a nice touch! Thom was quick to reply to any questions or concerns. Would definitely recommend this place to others as this was what a VRBO stay is all about. The huge kitchen and dining area was perfect as we are all able to gather and enjoy a meal while we talked about the activities of that day. We hope to visit again.
