O maior problema? Você nunca mais vai querer sair !!
Wow, what an amazing place!! Colleen, who was our main contact, was incredibly helpful before and during our stay. Colleen and Nora have done a lot of work on the place to make it comfortable and it shows, it's simply stunning. Five of us were staying at the Palapa and there was more than enough room for everyone to have privacy if they desired it. The beach was a short walk away and we walked along it each day to either go to town or hit one of the little beach bars. The town is pretty chill, lots of live music and great food. Cabs were very inexpensive and there was also the Collectivo bus if you didn't feel like walking or cabbing. We took the bus from town for groceries which was only a few stops and cabbed back to the Palapa. It was so lovely to have a place that from the moment we entered we felt so lucky to be there. None of us have a negative comment to make and we all want to go back..especially today because it's -22 in Halifax NS with the wind chill. Thanks Colleen and Nora for sharing your beautiful home with us!
My wife and I have stayed in PM several times over the years and this was our best stay yet. Colleen was very prompt in answering all my questions and was waiting on us when we arrived. Now about the house. Its all that and then some ! we just loved waking up to the sounds of nature, enjoying our morning coffee by the pool and then walking to town for breakfast . we only used the downstairs bedroom with AC 2 times during our stay because the ocean breezes kept the upstairs at a decent temp. If youve stayed in PM before you know water pressure can be suspect at times but I am happy to report this was not the case at La Palapa, LOTS of hot water and tons of water pressure made the outdoor shower a HUGE plus. I hate to keep going on about how wonderful this home is because it will make it tougher for us to find an opening next year, and Yes, we will be booking it again . In closing let me say this, there are cheaper places to stay in PM but I can promise you the little extra you spend will be so worth it, sitting by the pool with a cold drink after a day at the beach is just about priceless !!
Just returned from an amazing vacation in Puerto Morelos Mexico! The property owners Colleen and Nora were amazing. From the time we booked our stay until the day we left they were extremely helpful and accommodating.
We arrived from Cancun via CanadaTransfers which was excellent(booked on line).Even stopped at grocery store on the way to house.
The house was excellent-plenty of room for 4-6 people (we were only 2) Beautifully decorated with comfortable furniture and a full kitchen. The pool and garden area were wonderful- a very clean and well kept property.Even had an outdoor hot shower on the upper deck-very cool!
The property is about a 2 minute walk from the beach-unfortunately the water was a little rough due to the heavy wind but still beautiful-
15 minutes walk along the beach is the first cold beer stop then another 5-10 minutes to the town square passing a number of great little beach bars (especially liked Paradise Beach Club-wonderful bartenders) In town there is a large variety of small restaurants/bars-many having live music.
Heading back to the house after dark was easy with loads of taxis at the town square (50 pesos ($2.50) to the house).
From locals to ex-pats to tourists everyone was extremely friendly.Even the few beach vendors were friendly and polite.
We will certainly return to this property and area in the future!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Puerto Morelos and the palapa was a great place to call home for week. We enjoyed coffee by the pool each morning planning our day's activities in the area. Anyone interested in an authentic local meal should contact the owners of the palapa for contact information for a local chef, Juan. He prepared a dinner of fresh fish and vegetables for the four of us one night on the grill that was spectacular! He then joined us for dinner and we learned so much about the area.
We will definitely be back in Puerto Morelos in the future with so much more to explore and experience in the area...
Our last minute getaway idea led us to discover this lovely private home just steps away from the sea near a lovely fishing village - a colourful, cultural, Mexican pueblo.
The photos are exactly what you will get when staying at La Palapa - immaculate cleanliness, authenticity, privacy, culture and comfort. The owners of this house follow through on their every promise and go well beyond what you would expect from owners of a vacation rental. They are not just renting 'a house', they are sharing their home with you and you feel that connection from the moment they meet you until the day you have to go.
You will have everything that you need at La Palapa. Having a house and property all to yourself is the ultimate indulgence and the price of this one is amazing for all that you get! Most of all, the owners will quickly feel like friends with all of their advice, their knowledge of the area, their attentiveness to your needs and their respect for your privacy. They are there when you need them and when you don't, there is comfort in knowing you have friends in a new town.
The pueblo of Puerto Morelos is a refreshing dab of small town culture even though it's proximity to overpopulated tourist destinations is close. The town remains colourful, safe and friendly and it's tourists are happy to encounter the convenience of English-speaking locals and businesses, comfort foods, exotic foods, icy cold beer and the freshest fruit drinks.
You will find the nearest lunch and cold beer only a short stroll down the beach. A little farther and there is a huge selection of fine restaurants, breezy beach bars and free entertainment. We were honoured to have been able to enjoy authentic Flamenco music and dance, talented street performers, artisans lining the town plaza with their beautiful hand made arts, local bands playing both Mexican and American favourites and the smell of rich coffee in the morning.
I write this review on day 7 of 10...from the poolside of La Palapa because I just couldn't wait to express my happiness with this house. I was afraid that once I saw the snow again, I would forget the feeling of the sea breeze and beauty of these private gardens.
Not only is this pueblo a 'must see' but this house and it's owners an absolute pleasure. Thank you, Nora and Colleen.
Our family of 6, including three twenty something year olds, visited the palapa over Christmas week. The house is very well equipped - we found everything that we could need (including spices, condiments, and bottled water) and large enough that everyone was able to find a spot to call their own. The architectural elements of the house are stunning - the palapa roof, the pine posts, and the backyard, particularly in the evening. We loved having the pool and the outdoor showers were a real hit!
Despite being the height of tourist season, Puerto Morelos is a laid back place without the feel of being overly commercial. In our opinion, the best feature of the town is the offshore reef and it was easy to find a guide (required for the marine park) for US$25 per person.
The town is an easy walk away, either by road or along the beach. You can also walk up to Desire Pearl where there is a taxi stand directly across from the resort. We quickly learned that taking a taxi to the palapa from town confused many taxi drivers and that the best remedy was to direct them to the puerto principale UNAM. We were also grateful to Nora for telling us the appropriate fare.
The owners, Colleen and Nora, were fantastic to deal with. Colleen was our main contact and was quick and helpful with her responses to any questions. Nora was there to greet us and show us around upon our very late arrival (we used Canada Transfers for transportation and the driver got very, very lost - thankfully, Colleen phoned to find out where we were).
The property is well cared for and maintained; a lot of thought and care has gone into making the home comfortable and welcoming. You could very easily have a wonderful holiday without ever leaving the palapa.
