This penthouse is absolutely perfect. We loved the privacy and the beautiful views. We have not been to Kauai before but spent time looking around for other areas to stay and quite frankly this is the best area on the island I think. It's sunny and peaceful yet there are so many things close by and easy to get to. We arrived to a perfectly immaculate home with a comfortable bed...entire views of sunrise and sunset each day - it was wonderful. The kitchen had everything you could want and there was a full sized washer and dryer as well. The outdoor furniture is really comfortable and we cooked and ate at the house each day. There is a wonderful shopping area with restaurants nearby and the Beach House restaurant is right across the street. There was really very little traffic and it is right next to two really great beaches. We would definitely stay here again.
My wife and I wanted a romantic getaway to celebrate our 30th anniversary and couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The cottage was spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. We used the kitchen for many of our meals and it was stocked with useful consumables (things you normally need, but don't purchase on the first go-around, like spices, oil/vinegar, etc.), upscale pots and pans, and all the appliances you would find in a well-stocked kitchen. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms bright and airy. The bathroom had plenty of towels and was stocked with soap and shampoo) and the living room was tastefully appointed. The windows throughout the house allowed tropical breezes to pass through, lending to a wonderful experience. We spent quite a bit of time on the deck enjoying the cool breezes as they rushed through the trees, listening to the surf and, at night, watching the clouds go by. Situated on top of the building, there are actually two cottages, but each has their own private entrance. And, since it is situated on the 4th floor, we also enjoyed privacy from other buildings nearby. Within walking distance, we found an intimate little beach (along with other, more public beaches), one of the top-rated restaurants on the island, and an upscale village shopping center with a market, restaurants, a drug store and plenty of little shops offering local mementos. Situated on the southern part of the island, we traveled to all points of the island (all of which were less than an hour away), and drank in the beauty and experiences that are Kauai. We spent the week biking, hiking, swimming, strolling - and had one of the most romantic times of our lives. One last thing - we've been to Hawaii, Oahu and Maui, and this is our very favorite island. It is green and lush throughout and retains the charm and feel of traditional Hawaiian life. Yet, you still have excellent roads and amenities (including Costco, Safeway, Home Depot, Kmart...). We will most definitely be back.
This condo is as nice as the reviews say it is. We had a terrific week.
With one exception:
The "private deck" is not even close to private. If that is one of the things that is weighing heavily in your decision, as it was in ours, you might look around a little more. The first five days of our stay, at least two people, if not more, wandered up to look around. Even with us lounging there they came on up and looked around. Oblivious to the fact that it was private. On the fifth day I put up a little plastic chain across the stairs and within an hour a grumpy guy, I assume the property manager, took it off and brought it up and dropped it in front of our door and lectured us about how that space was a community area.
I could explain in more detail but the bottom line is, people come and go on that deck on a daily basis. Including all of the roof top maintenance for the whole building.
We did have a great time and loved the condo. We were just more than a little disappointed in the traffic on our "private patio".
My husband and I, along with our two teenage daughters loved spending a week at this condo. It's located in a great location...close to great shopping, swimming beaches, snorkeling beaches, attractions, and restaurants. We loved exploring the neighborhoods by foot each morning after we walked to get our morning coffees. Besides the great location, we appreciated all the extras this condo provided.....beach chairs, boogie boards, snorkeling gear, beach towels, washer/dryer, and a fully stocked kitchen. Did I mention the great views? From the deck of the penthouse you get practically a 360 view of the ocean, mountains, and charming park adjacent to the condos. We truly felt spoiled getting to stay in this penthouse condo and highly recommend it to others!
My husband and I stayed here for a week. It was absolutely heaven! The rooftop patio is HUGE and amazing, we actually hardly ever left because the view was so beautiful - why go anywhere else? The condo itself is beautifully decorated and comes everything you might need from the towels to the beach gear. We used the kitchen a lot - it was fully stocked with the dishes, utensils and also the condiments! That made grocery shopping so easy. The bed was very comfortable too and the sound of the ocean at night was so soothing. Really, it's a charming condo that feels more like a beach cottage, we couldn't have been happier. Can't wait for our next trip back!
We spent 8 nights (Oct 31-Nov 8, 2014) in the Penthouse unit. Photos here showed the unit as it is and it is great! Very clean and a big thank you to Kristen for getting it ready for us. We had everything needed for meal prep in the kitchen including spices and cooking oil. All paper products, soap, shampoo, laundry detergent, and dish detergent were provided. We were especially happy with the dishwasher. It was a 2 drawer model and our first experience with such. It worked very well. The washer and dryer in the unit worked well, too.
This unit is back away from the road so not much noise. Also because the unit is on the top floor, there was no noise from anyone overhead.
We brought our own snorkeling equipment, but there is a fully stocked cabinet on the deck with all shapes and sizes of equipment. And while I’m mentioning the deck I will say it was even better than the photos! Views of the park and ocean on the east side were great. We also had a sunset view though not unobstructed. For unobstructed views of the sunset, just walk across the street to the Beach House lawn. Also across the street is a great snorkeling beach. Very often there are sea turtles there that can be seen from the lawn or while in the water.
The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. Lots of orchids! And the swimming pool was beautiful. I think it was just resurfaced this summer and it looked brand new.
There are restaurants and shops less than half a mile away in the Kukui’ula shopping center. We walked over a few times and ate at Josselin’s Tapas Bar & Grill, Dolphin Sushi & Fish Market, and Bubba’s Burgers, and all 3 were great. There is also a Living Foods market there. It’s very pricey, but convenient.
We had one small issue with the air conditioner, but the owner resolved the issue to our satisfaction, so all was well. We would stay here again and I would highly recommend this unit to others.
