My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Bear's Lair. The cabin is as advertised, Lynn thought of everything. We cooked several meals during our stay, the kitchen had everything we needed....just add food ;)
The cabin sits on a private lot overlooking the river. The river was a bit high during our stay and it rained some so we weren't able to do any "river sitting". My husband and our three children did find a day to fish from the river bank.
During the rainy days we played games, completed a puzzle, read and watched a dvd....all available at the cabin.
I would recommend brining your favorite CDs or a Bluetooth receiver to play your favorite tunes. We weren't able to pick up any radio stations. There are CDs at the cabin but they might not fit your style.
Overall the cabin met our needs and was exactly what we wanted....a secluded cabin in the woods on the river "off the grid". No cable, no wifi...just each other. It was perfect :)
Lynne was outstanding. I could not have asked for anything more. Quick, responsive, informative and a true family professional. I want to stay again. Documents and information was completed online and via voice. Simple and easy process. Home/Cabin was clean and provide all necessary supplies and equipment. I recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away and relax and unwind. What a wonderful experience. Don't bring your cell phone it won't work. Isn't that why you come there. :) Thank you.
Bear's Lair cabin is fantastic. Well equipped, remote and peaceful, but close enough to shops/entertainment for kids and adults alike.
During a stay for one week, we were not bothered by insects at all, which was surprising given how close to the water the cabin is. Lots of wildlife and the New River is just wonderful.
I would recommend this to friends and would like to go back.
Thanks to Lynne and Larry for having us.
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving! The directions were perfect. The cabin was immaculate and everything we needed was provided. I felt as if I was staying in a friend's home with all of the little touches that made it comfortable. Our grandsons, aged 3 and 5, enjoyed hiking the woods and attempting to learn to fish. They were outside every minute that they could be. In the evening we enjoyed the fireplace and doing puzzles. Thank you!
Perfect get away along the sparkling New River. The house meets every need and comfort. Tucked far enough for peace and privacy while close enough to activities such as the New River Trail State Park. Hope to return again and again.
This house is really well-equipped. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck, walking down the yard to the river, and hanging out in the comfortable living room with lots of natural light. Beds are very comfortable. Location was convenient to activities on the New River -- went biking on the trail, and tried tubing at Foster Falls.
The only down side was that there is a campground/horse facility directly across the river. On our third morning there (a Friday) we were startled to hear loud, amplified music and announcements from there starting at 9 a.m.. It looked like some kind of a horse show. The music continued off and on til 10:00 that night, and started up again on Saturday morning at 9:00. It was quite a surprise to have so much loud noise in such a remote location.
We would definitely recommend the property if you make sure that you won't be staying there during an event at the facility across the river.
Outras atividades: canoagem, caiaque, tubos, ou de bicicleta a New River Trail
