Bornholm Bornholm is rightly called the pearl of the Baltic Sea. Hardly anywhere else you will find such a varied nature in such a small area. Within a radius of 30 km there are the best, cleanest beaches in Europe and dune landscapes so picturesque that they take your breath away. All in all, Bornholm is a miniature version of Scandinavia with a special flair. An island with history¨ You have here in many places the best possibilities to experience something special: For example, if you come across the impressive Hammershus castle ruins, hike on the imposing Hammerknuden, climb Paradise Hill with the erratic block, take a boat trip with the mail boat from Svaneke to the archipelago Ertholmene and the famous island Christiansø, when you are told something about the geological history in the Bornhom Nature Center in Åkirkeby, finally, when you visit the art museum, beautifully situated on the Helligkom cliffs and of course see the round churches, which are among the most culturally and historically interesting contributions of Bornholm. Østerlars church is the largest and most beautiful of its kind. Nylars is the best preserved, while Nyker is the smallest. The list can be continued ad infinitum, but one thing can be said: Bornholm has something to offer for every taste. Speaking of taste, try freshly smoked herring in the cozy ambience of the smokehouse. Close to the beach and forest idyll The 'Forest Park Rubinsø' is located in a beautiful nature. The houses are placed on large forest/nature plots, not far from Lake Rubinsø and only a few minutes walk from the child-friendly sandy beach. Rubinsø woodland homes A peaceful idyll deep in the forest These attractive holiday homes are situated in a large natural woodland beside the Rubinsø, an attractive forest lake. The houses themselves are light and tastefully decorated with modern, Scandinavian-designed furniture. They contain all that is needed for the perfect holiday, including a large, cosy living room combined with kitchen and dining room, where large partitioned windows allow you to enjoy the beautiful countryside all year round. Surrounding the holiday homes is the forest of Hasle Lystskov, which is home to a rich variety of bird life and a wealth of walking trails. For those interested in fishing, the Rubinsø is something of a goldmine for pike. The lake's stock is large, and so are the fish. Just a few minutes' walk from the holiday homes can be found a sandy, child-friendly beach complete with dunes and excellent opportunities for bathing. From here, you can experience the most fantastic sunsets over the Baltic Sea. Enjoy Hasle's unspoilt beauty The nearby town of Hasle is a charming old fishing settlement located on sloping land that rises up from the cosy harbour. The town is especially famous for its traditional herring-smoking plant, 'Hasle Silderøgeri' which functions as a working museum. Here, fish are smoked in the traditional method in open chimneys, meaning you can enjoy a meal of warm, freshly smoked herring while enjoying the most beautiful of sea views. Also in Hasle, you can visit Grønbechs Gård, a former merchant's house that is now home to the island's largest collection of art and crafts, as well as a working glass workshop. Both Hasle and Rønne, which is situated just 10 minutes' drive from the Rubinsø woodland homes, offer good shopping opportunities and numerous restaurants, cafes, galleries and museums.
