We've stayed here four times in the past five years and we love it more each time! The house is super cozy. The yard is completely private and its only a two minute walk to the beach.
Jackie is very easy to work with and very accommodating.
Within easy walking distance of Publix and many other restaurants and shops, and yet still secluded from the hustle and bustle - thanks to the high privacy fence.
The decor is charming - both inside and out. Touches of art deco highlight the interior while the yard is beachy themed with many geckos for entertainment.
We drive all the way from Wisconsin and each time it's like stepping back in time and all the tensions (and Northern chills) just slip away.
We feel like its our home away from home.
We really liked the central location & ease of access to Publix, to St. Augustine & to various beaches. The off street parking was great and we made good use of the wi-fi. The beds were very comfy & we appreciated the use of the extra blankets on a couple chilly nights (no central heat/AC). On the downside, the proximity to A-1A made it quite noisy - especially since it turns out to have been motorcycle week in Daytona!
This is a 1930's beach cottage and there aren't many of those left in FL! Keeping that in mind tho, the property does have significant maintenance (termites, LR windows fell out when trying to open them) & housekeeping issues (cobwebs, coffee rings on DR table) & I spoke w the owner about these the night before we left. I said that it must be difficult to oversee these issues from afar & to rely on property managers & she agreed. She noted that the property was very reasonably priced for the area.
All negatives aside, we had a good stay, but would not choose to return.
Really one word PERFECT Jackie is great to talk to and she provides what you need. VERY close to all your needs from the beach to dining. If you complain GET A LIFE it's a 1930's cottage redone in todays times. THANK'S Ray & Cerethia Houston TX
Wonderful AND perfect in every way! It was so cozy and comfy and everything you need is in the cabin. Beach so close plus stores and downtown too. Everythijng the owner noted as to why they chose this location I totally agree with. The history of it just makes it that much more meaningful. Loved every moment there and want to return, thank you!
We are so thrilled that we decided to stop off in this lovely area en route to my mom’s in southern Florida. Our stay at this wonderful, historic cottage- just a few moments away from the water- was just what we needed in terms of rest and relaxation. We are so grateful that Jackie, the owner, helped us coordinate our stop over in St. Augustine.
(Thanks for all the helpful tips!). We arrived to this beautiful, private location, parking convenient on the premises with ample property to seclude ourselves- “just what doctored ordered”! The cottage, upon arrival, was clean with fresh towels and sheets, has a small kitchen- but fully equipped, and was very comfortable and refreshing (air-conditioned, Thank God!), which we appreciated after a several hours of exploring the near-by peaceful beach.
This was our first visit to St. Augustine- which by the way is a fantastic small city to be discovered. Overall, our three days at the cottage was therapeutic and we would love to return. With this said- we can highly recommend this rental, and can’t say enough about the accommodating owner Jackie (who notified us that we could arrive an hour earlier to get settled in). Thanks again.
Jackie was a pleasure to deal with, when we booked our stay at her cottage.
The location was perfect for us, as it was less than a five minute drive to a great boat launch for our kayaks, for paddling and kayak fishing over at Poncho Creek, across the ICW.
Being just a short walk from the beach was terrific, as well. We enjoyed evening strolls on the beach and appreciated the fact that it wasn't packed with tourists, like St. Augustine Beach.
Publix is a short walk away; very convenient for picking up groceries. And, the cottage is located just off the bridge that takes you across to the Historic District of St. Augustine.
Although I would definitely recommend this cottage to friends, I would attach a disclaimer: Do NOT rent this cottage in summer, if you wish to sleep in a cool bedroom. Yes, the cottage is air conditioned, however, it is a wall air conditioner that is mounted in the window out in the front room. The cool air does not reach the bedroom off the kitchen, so, even with a ceiling fan, the room was VERY hot at night, during our 95 degree days/ 75 degree nights. We ended up taking the mattress out to the front room floor, so we could sleep more comfortably; a bit of a hassle, but worth it.
I would recommend to Jackie that she invest in an air conditioner for the bedroom off the kitchen. If she does, I would rate this cottage 5 stars.
