My family and I stayed at Jimbo's Farm this past weekend (3 nights) We all had a great time. We went there fearing the weather, as it was supposed to rain every day we were to be there.. The rain did come, but nothing like we had expected. We had plenty of sunshine to have tons of fun. My personal favorite was the pond.. Feeding the fish, and catching plenty as well. The house itself is fairly simple and rustic, but it still has everything most anyone would need. It's also located just a short drive to plenty of fun attractions in the area. I have no complaints about anything during our stay, and my family have already decided that we would love to go back when we can.
Big thanks to Jim for everything, and to Carolyn for the clean house when we arrived! Hope to visit again soon!
We are back home & wanted to take a minute to thank you for sharing
Jimbo's Farm with us. The property is heaven. It's so serene and relaxing.
A place we have each dreamed of but we never seem to find.
We fed the fish every morning & evening. Lola, our Lab just loved going down
to the pond and watching the fish come up to feed. She especially loved walking the pond shallows and "trying" to catch the smallest fish. The blue heron came around each day, catching frogs for dinner. We enjoyed fishing off the deck and relaxing with Lola by our side. She worked & played so hard all week. She was exhausted at days end from being a real dog. We picnicked each day by the pond, relaxing in the sun and shade as the day
wore on. We bbq'd each night then relaxed on the front porch as the day ended.
We brought a blanket with us for star gazing, relaxed under the stars and found
life in the clouds. I loved the L/R fire place/stove. So rustic & real. We lit a fire every night, relaxing & chatting late into the night. The master fireplace was romantic & did provide warmth. We now have so many gorgeous pictures to show & share, and one
or two I will enlarge & frame to remind us of the beauty we will be missing.
I really hope you make time yourself to enjoy this captivating piece of heaven Jim.
We all get so wrapped up in life we forget to breath. Don't forget to make time to go back home to clear your head and enjoy the tranquility you share. Hope to return soon.
We had a blast. The property was absolutely beautiful. It was so realxing. My teenagers loved to fish at the pond. It brought my kids closer. They enjoyed the blueberries and black berries. I would recommend staying here. Jimbo made sure our stay was good. He called and checked on us. We had a storm and lost power, Carol walked up to check on us. She was very helpful too. Hoping to go back in a couple years. Thank you
The selfish part of me does not even want to write a review because I want to keep this place all to myself. Although the pictures are stunning, they do not serve the property justice. All i wanted was to be in the mountains, surrounded by trees, and what we got was so much more! We only left the property once during our entire trip. As other reviews listed, there were little cobwebs and the house was outdated but my family loved it and thought it was perfect addition to the nostalgia of the property. Every morning we woke up to sit on the hammocks on the front porch and listen to the birds and the day beginning. We fished off the dock, we hiked the mountain on the property, we drank from the spring water at the top of the mountain, we had bonfires, grilled out, star gazed for hours, had a family baseball game in the front yard, skipped up and down the stream, caught lightening bugs and literally detached from the social world and tapped back into the nature world. it was like being a kid again and showing my kids how we used to have fun before all this technology. It was perfect! the days were beautiful, the nights were cool, we slept with the doors and windows open and realized we were a long way from home. The only day we left the property, we went tubing in this little Cherokee town about an hour away. it was so much fun. They had little rapids down the stream and you were literally surrounded by mountains while you were tubing down one. We left to go back home already planning our next vacation. Jimbo thank you for everything! you have a hidden gem and we are so thankful we were able to enjoy it.
This was the most incredibly beautiful farm! My husband and I arrived with our small dog for 3 days of lovely fall weather . We enjoyed our time there so much, we didn't leave the place except to pick up a few groceries nearby. We took the Cherohala parkway at the owners suggestion. The views and fall foliage were grand! We spent our time fishing at the trout pond, roasting hot dogs over the campfire, grilling our steaks on the charcoal grill, walking the trails on the property, and just sitting and watching the magnificent beauty of the place. Our little dog was mesmerized by the babbling brook. He had a great time. The house is like stepping back in time to great grandmas. I appreciate all the work the owner has done with really nice fireplaces, wood stove for living area, and nice electric fire for the bedroom. I liked the "very cold" mountain water and "very hot " water! Lol! It is "old timey", so don't expect sleek modern with everything new and sparkling clean. If you are OCD about cleanliness you probably shouldn't go, but you will really miss out on a grand place. Experience the finer things in life that are not man made. Look at this place and you will know there is a creator. There was a really nice featherbed on the bed , but it didn't agree with my back, so we took it off and slept on the comfortable mattress underneath. Jimbo and Carolyn were great! Thanks for sharing your place with us. We would love to come again.
There were few things on my mind, before I planned to book a cabin. Serene, away from all hustle bustle, nice and peaceful nature and most importantly a real dark sky (we are amateur astronomers).
Jimbo's Farm not only fulfilled all of my above expectations, but it exceeded our expectations. The cabin being a classic one, had those doors and frames that remind of the old times. Therefore, it felt as if we were back to our Granny's home (nostalgia at it's best). The huge front yard with a pond filled with trouts give you own little forest like experience, allowing you to take in the clean air, chirping of birds and the gentle sound of water stream all at once. My wife who was apprehensive of the cabin, was mightliy impressed the moment she arrived and enjoyed the stay thoroughly. The best part was, me and brother were praying for a clear dark sky during those three days. And Bingo, it was clear as it can be. Jimbo's farm being away from the city or major town lights, the sky was excellent for star gazing. We were able to see the milky way galaxy with naked eyes. Through our binoculars, we were able to view other deep sky objects such as Andromeda galaxy etc. Night photography was amazing. Over all, it is worth every penny to visit Jimbo's Farm. James and Carolyn were extremely courteous to answer all of our questions and made our stay even better.
This is a definite re-book place.
