Kalamata is an oasis, close enough to the township of Akaroa, where you can enjoy a short walk to the eateries, beach and shops, but also far enough away that if you do not want to be part of the hustle and bustle you can sit on the deck and enjoy the picturesque view with a beverage.
Although Kalamata was built in 1950 during 2019 it has had a major renovation. In fact most of our neighbors think its a brand new!
The things we are most proud of is the rain water tank which flushes the toilets and of course the home is now insulated and has double glazing which keeps it cozy in the winter and cool in the summer months.
Kalamata is now wheel chair friendly. The bathroom is designed with the disabled in mind.
Kalamata has 2 bedrooms, a brand new kitchen if you like to cook.
Both the living and sun room open up to the deck.
BBQ is also available just below the deck.
Crisp and clean, its perfect for a couple or 2.
It’s also a great hideaway for romantics wanting a little time out.
Big parking bay at the front of the home. Room to park a boat or any other water toys.
Only 1.5 hours self drive from Christchurch airport and an hours or so from Christchurch city it’s a great first or last stopover to relax and enjoy a taste of “ little France in NZ “. Being an old French colony, there remains a charming French influence in the township of Akaroa.
Akaroa itself offers many opportunities to connect with nature – either through taking one of the wonderful walks or hikes around the nearby hills, fishing swimming, or cruising on one of the tourist boats to watch dolphins at play.
The township also offers visitors local crafts, contemporary and / or traditional restaurants and cafes, waterside strolls on the board walks, great boutique shopping, a nearby cheese maker to visit and buy from, water activities, bird watching or just relaxing and taking in the ever changing harbour views.
