Villa Elizavet is an architect-designed villa completed in 2015. The property has been designed to make the most of the stunning views across Souda Bay and the White Mountains and at any time of day offers the opportunity for sunbathing or sitting in the shade.
Photovoltaic panels provide electrical power (with mains supply also when needed) and water is heated by a solar panel.
The property is reached via a private drive with access through an electric gate. There is plenty of room for 2-3 cars on the drive and under the covered car port if required.
The outside of the property centres around the Heated 10m*3m Infinity Pool which has a built in children's area and steps into the water. It's a delight to swim along the pool looking out over the sea in Souda Bay or float on a Lilo looking up at the Mountains. There is an outside shower to freshen up before or after swimming ready to soak up the sun.
Also outside we have a terrace area around the pool with 6 Sunbeds, a covered Pergola with table and 6 seats - perfect for meals at any time of day. There is an outside kitchen with built in fridge, stone sink and large brick barbecue. To the end of the pool there are steps down to another covered Pergola that offers a peaceful place to sit in the gardens.
Walking in the main entrance you turn right into the Hallway and through the open Lounge and Dining Area. All rooms have individual air-control units so you can be comfortable any time of day and for Winter visitors there is under-floor electric hearting. The Lounge has a large window looking out over the terrace, pool and view across the bay together with patio doors that open out onto the terrace. To the side there is another window - making the room incredibly light and this look out directly to the White Mountains (usually snow-capped in Winter through to April).
There is a Dining area with solid oak table and chairs for 6 and behind that an Italian Designer (Scavolini) kitchen with ample storage including a pull-out larder There is a built in dis-washer, electric oven & hob and fridge-freezer with built in chilled water dispense with Britax filter.
Oft the hallway there is Utility Room with toilet, washbasin and bathroom cabinet. This room also houses the washing machine and is used to store the Ironing Board, Iron and other household items.
At the far end of the hallway there is a Double Bedroom with built-in wardrobes and en-suite bathroom. Patio doors at the front provides views out over the terrace and pool.
Heading upstairs we have a family bathroom to the left with Shower, washbasin and large bathroom cabinet. Beyond that is the Master Bedroom with King-Sized bed and patio doors that open out onto the extended and very large balcony. Out here we have 2 casual seats & table together with a Swing Seat. The views from here are stunning - both early morning looking at the light on the mountains and early evening watching sunsets over the distant hills. This bedroom also features a panoramic side window so make the most of the mountain views - the effect is like a picture that changes through the day.
Across the other side of the upstairs landing there is a further twin bedroom with two single beds and built-in wardrobe. This again features patio doors out onto the Balcony and there is another sets of 2 casual chairs and a table out there.
Because the bedrooms are well separated the house provides great privacy and comfortably accommodates 6 people. Most people spend the majority of their time here outside and the availability of the huge balcony together with upper and lower pergolas areas near the pool means there is always both space to mingle and space to be on your own if you wish.
We've left a pair of binoculars in the lounge for guests to use - great for watching shipping heading in and out of the bay including occasional submarines - was well as watching the locals birds. There are local buzzards usually nearby & you'll spot them gliding on the thermals with no apparent effort quite beautiful to watch.
10 minutes walk away (quite steep the first 3-4 minutes) in the centre of Kokkino Chorio you'll find the Mini Market Voreinos which has an amazing range in stock and is run by a very helpful family who speak English as well. The walk itself is a joy as you're walking parallel to the Bay with fantastic views out.
Nearby there is a Taverna open all-day every day in the holiday season serving everything from coffee & drinks to full meals and another Kafenion in the village. 5 minutes further on foot takes you to the re-cycled glass workshops which have some fantastic bowls, light-fitting and other ornaments.
By car, the village of Plaka is around 4 minutes drive. This has 2 Mini-Markets and several very good restaurants. Another 3 minutes takes you into Almyrida with its beautiful bay and long beach - great for both sunbathing and swimming as well as the sea-front tavernas. There is a beautiful safe beach which is great for families
There is so much to love about Crete, whether you're a regular visitor or its your first-time we hope you'll love it as much as we do. Villa Elizavet was our dream come true - we hope it plays some part in fulfilling your dream too.
