The property was beautiful-- there was plenty of space for our family to spread out when we needed space. The view from the lanai was breathtaking, and we spent a lot of time just relaxing out there. In the mornings we walked up the street to see the sunrise off of Laie Point. There was beach access across the street. We were able to keep cool with a cross breeze using fans. If I could, I'd be returning frequently.
Chick and Cookie are wonderful hosts providing information about the house and surrounding area. We liked their recommendations about local restaurants and activities. The lanai was our favorite place to hang out. We loved watching and listening to the waves hitting the rocks below.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Chick and Cookie's oceanfront home. There was more than enough room for our group of 6 adults and a 7 year old. The owners were helpful in answering all our questions in a timely manner and check-in was a breeze.
I can't state enough how gorgeous the ocean view is from the lanai. What could be more relaxing than laying in a hammock beside the ocean with a gentle breeze blowing by while watching whales? I've only been home a few days and I miss having my morning coffee out there already.
The location itself is excellent as it is away from the city and in a quiet town. Foodland is well stocked with most everything you could need during your stay at reasonable prices (sign up for their free discount card) and only a short walk from the house. There are a few quick service restaurants and a theatre.
The nearby beach is quiet and enjoyable and during our visits we only saw a few friendly locals there. Even the famed Polynesian Cultural Center is close enough that you can walk there via the beach!
A bit north of Laie at Turtle Bay beach we saw a Hawaiian Monk Seal suntanning on the beach! One of the locals there said the seal regularly visits them and usually hangs around for 3-4 hours at a time. Very cool!
Our trip was everything you could hope for. Sunny, warm and relaxing. Thank you for sharing your home with us. I will highly recommend it to anyone planning a visit to Oahu.
We had a wonderful vacation in this lovely home overlooking the ocean. The home was spacious and well maintained and the owners were very responsive throughout the whole process. I would highly recommend this property for family groups---we had 6 adults and a 4 year old and there was plenty of room for everyone. Thank you so much Chick and Cookie!
Enjoyed our family Christmas vacation. Plenty of space and everything you need is there. Property manager was quick to resolve a small bathroom problem. A perfect spot if you are looking for a getaway on the North Shore. Would definitely recommend this property to others. Thanks for sharing this special place with our family.
This house was perfect for our family vacation. We was taking our daughter to drop her at BYUH, and wanted to stay somewhere that was close to where she will be living. The house was plenty big for us and we even had my mother along with my husband and two teenagers. There was three bedrooms total, but my son insisted on sleeping in the amazing hammock every night. We locked the front of the house every night, but felt very safe to leave the back doors open for the crosswinds each night to stay cooler. There was no air conditioner but we figured out how to make the breeze ways work. My kids loved riding the bikes down for ice cream, and they found enough gear in the garage to snorkel and boogie board. The private access to the beach threw us off because it is on the other side of the peninsula. However it is only a five minute walk and is very beautiful. We walked to the end on the peninsula almost every morning to watch the sun rise. We cooked several meals at the house and it was pretty stocked(might recommend a few mixing bowls). Breakfast on the laini was the best! Chick and Cookie was great at letting us extend our check out time a couple of hours which made it easier to get our daughter moved into her dorm. The house manager even let us drop off our luggage 3 hours before check in, which was very appreciated because we had zero room in the car to grocery shop. We really enjoyed the selection of books, and took advantage of them to learn about the island. Even though it freaked me out at first, we loved, loved, loved the lizards that you WILL find around the house. Locals say it is good luck to find a baby gecko, and we was lucky enough to come across two of them. They are apart of the island life, so please don't take this as a negative, and please don't hurt them if you stay at this gray house. I would definitely rent this house again. The drive way is very narrow and we had to rent a van, and it was challenging backing out of it, but can be done. It would be easier if you rent smaller vehicles, or a short walk to the street. We loved the tip book about shopping and dinning. Our favorite food truck was the Island Breeze. Stop and have the lobster tacoes... amazing! Thank you for sharing your home with us Chick and Cookie we had an awesome vacation! Mahalo
