This majestic, stone, colonial mountain home was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's concept of 'Organic Architecture' featuring PURE-ORGANIC building materials from the earth: STONE and WOOD...the essence of Stonewood Lodge! The home's interior living space was designed to bring elements of Nature indoors. Wild Black Cherry, White Sugar Maple and Red Oak were used throughout the Lodge to create custom cabinetry, unique furniture and finish every ceiling and wall including bathrooms, mudrooms, every closet and even the garage! Not one drop of stain was used to alter the 'real' color and grain of the wood in order to reveal its beautifully deep and rich natural patina! LOCATION, LOCATION, Lodge is in the geographic center of the entire Laurel Highlands tourist region. It is conveniently nestled right between two State Parks AND two Ski Resorts, Seven Springs and Hidden Valley, minutes to both. The property is adjacent and directly connected to 130,000 acres of Forbes State Forest and Laurel Hill State park. Because we are connected to the State Park we enjoy the best marked and groomed hiking trails in the entire Laurel Highlands right out our back door!

Stonewood Lodge welcomes and hosts multi-generational families and groups that include parents, grandparents and minor children. Also, we specialize in hosting senior and older couples and singles (Age 50 and older) who seek a unique and unparalleled level of safety, security and support directly from the owners!! Stonewood Lodge is rented as a vacation home...not a party house. Any group looking for a rental home to engage in heavy drinking that could lead to drunken, destructive or dangerous behavior is asked to please rent a different home. Thank you.
Groups of singles or couples with no minor children must be at least 50 years of age or older.
Our occupancy limit at the Lodge is a total of 12 guests. We keep a strict occupancy limit of 12 guests to adhere to national fire safety codes.
Also, we strictly disallow inviting additional day or overnight visitors to the home beyond the agreed upon group size as indicated at the time the reservation is made.
We do not permit "In Garage" parking. We use the garage for storage of property maintenance equipment that we may need to access in a weather emergency.
All holiday weekends require a minimum stay of 3 nights. The exceptions are New Years and Christmas. Both New Years and Christmas require a minimum stay of 5 nights. The dates set aside for a New Years reservation are December 26 to January 2.
A Christmas reservation must depart no later then December 26.
To reserve both Christmas and New Years together requires a minimum stay of 10 nights between December 20 to January 3.
We cannot provide wifi. Because of our remote location we do not have cable lines to the property. We tried to use satellite internet but to establish a reliable signal we needed to cut down a swath of mature oak trees. The trees won. So, if you need to go beyond an internet connection with your own data plan and smart phone there is free indoor wifi at several locations around the area...7-Springs, Starbuck's, etc.
As part of our Rental Agreement we require all adult guests to sign a Liability Waiver...the same type you sign at a chain motel, doctor/dentist office or a bike/canoe rental. To validate the Liability Waiver in Pennsylvania, identity authentication is required. Each adult guest must provide a legible copy of a current, state issued, Driver's License photo ID that includes your name, address, DOB and issue/expiration date. ALL OTHER INFORMATION ON THE ID MAY BE CROSSED OUT.
All required documents must be received by the home owners within 14 days after making a reservation. You will be contacted by the owners within 24 hours after making a reservation with information and directions concerning the Rental Agreement and Liability Waivers.
The owners live part time in another stone house on a next door property and we will be there for the duration of your stay. So, we'll be able to meet you upon arrival with the keys and a quick tour of the Lodge.
On your day of arrival we would appreciate if you could call or write to give an ETA so one of us can meet you around that time.
Because we will be nearby and accessible, we welcome a chance to be helpful in any way we can. It is our policy to respect and safeguard the privacy of our guests, but please feel free to call us or knock on our door if you have any questions or needs. One of us should generally be available if needed.
