Thanksgiving in the Bahamas
My husband and I truly enjoyed our stay. We will be back. Thank you for allowing us to spend time in your piece of Heaven.
Million Dollar Location!
The best place to be - right at the best beach OVERLOOKING the water. Kayak or explore on foot a half mile of crystal clear, shallow water with smooth, white sand bottom. Look off deck straight down into water to see exotic carribean fish. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises. Around low tide, wide beach with sandbar islands for exploring. Trees give shade at beach. Well maintained road - unlike beach road which keeps beach almost private! Central location for food (cinnamon rolls, quiche, french bread, shrimp, etc at farm market down road) and activities but the best action is right here; kayaks, snorkel and fishing gear as well as about everything you need - ice chest, insulated tote bag, beach towels, sunscreen, bug spray (only needed at night). Hammock, loungers, adirondack chairs on deck with as pretty a view as anywhere on island. Clean, light and bright interior with oversize sliding glass doors. Mirrored closet doors in master bedroom reflect beautiful view so you are surrounded by it! Landscaped with tropical flowers and plants. We were greeted by fresh cut flowers in every room. Only near glitch on arrival on communicating how to find rental car. It was an SUV so we could explore the back roads and find hidden places, the best of these were Twin Cove beach (pictures don't do it justice) and Savannah Bay Fishbone Bar and grill with their signature drink and fresh caught menu items. Levy Plant Reserve unexpectedly beautiful. We weren't in Eleutheria long enough (4 days) and hope to return to the Bahama Villa. It was the perfect getaway we needed!
Great setting, beautiful views and easy access to sandy beach.
We stayed at Bahama Villa for our anniversary. The location, accommodations, area, everything was outstanding. Emmy, the owner, and Arthur, the manager are wonderful people. Everything is as or better than the description. Being there in the off season, we never saw more than a few people. Most of the time we had the beach to ourselves. It is also centrally located on the island, so everything you could need is a short drive away. We visited several beaches while we were there, and while they were all beautiful, Ten Bay was the best. It is so quiet and peaceful. It's shallow, so it would be perfect for kids, too. I can fully recommend Bahama Villa, and we will definitely be staying here again.
So great to read your very accurate description. We are so lucky to own this piece of heaven. Thank you for your great review.
Secluded ocean overlook with snorkeling off back porch
The previous summaries accurately describe the property and I would recommend this for people who want to have a secluded beach to their own, especially if they have younger kids. It is basically in a protective U shape cove so water it is very calm and I could let my 8 and 11 year old snorkel alone. The porch has stairs that lead right to the water (just as the pics show). It is 50 yards away from the actual beach, which you walk to if you dont mind getting wet. At low tide water was ~2 ft deep & high tide was ~4 ft deep. The house is on the rocks on the south of ten bay with an unobstructed view of ten bay and the Caribbean, but the stairs lead right into the sand. Also the ocean is sandy but the rocks under the house are covered in corals, fish, etc. so I would recommend for kids for learning to snorkel as it is shallow, calm with lots of sea life, just swim along the rocks. We saw stingless jellyfish, urchins, sting rays, shrimp, and schools of fish hang out right under the porch. House has a bed room that fits 2 kids and a master bedroom with door that look over the ocean with large glass door. It has a small kitchen with everything you need to cook and their was a ton of spices, oils, coffee, etc. anything left over from previous guests. They have TV, internet (was pretty fast), 3 kayaks, some snorkeling gear(if you forgot yours), life jackets, a cooler, sunblock and bug spray (again helpful if you forgot yours). The whole island has mosquitoes at dusk so spray during dinner, many restaurants have bottles for you in case. They had a 10 gallon jug and dispenser, you have to buy drinking water on the island (can't drink the tap), you need to bring the jug to exchange at any store, including the island farm store 5 minutes north, which also has fruits, veggies and bread. There is an actual grocery store in governers harbor (15 min north) or another food store 5 min south. One warning, many places only take cash (USD or BSD both work everywhere and its a $1USD=$1BSD) but the banks charge exchange fees and service fees, worked out to be about 10% for every withdraw. So bring US cash. All the restaurants and hotels took credit but rental cars, water taxis, and many grocery stores did not. Only the Queens highway is paved and all other "roads" are just stone and pot holes so get a SUV. As a warning, all the cars are old & scraped up, so dont let the beat up looks or high miles surprise you.
Thank you Dan for your very accurate, well written and good review. It will be so helpful for future guests. So glad to hear how much you enjoyed staying at Bahama Villa. Come back soon.
Bahama Villa July 21-27 2019
This house has the million-dollar view of Ten Bay! There aren't any sharks in the day time but at night we watched a little one with the porch light. During the day you can see the rays going by the pipefish and schools of baitfish. Go down jump in and you are surrounded by 500 thousand little fish that look like flashing blue as you go by the cliffs. There are starfish out in the bay but the best is snorkeling along the cliffs of the house and out beyond. The beach never had more than 20 people on it busiest day most of the time it's empty.
Saw a batfish there never seen one before. Ugly but cool.! House is clean private TV works well but its the view that makes this place great.
Thank you so much Dallas for your extremely accurate review. So glad to hear you love our location as much as we do. The view and sea life is truly breathtaking. How lucky we are to share Bahama Villa with you.
