A localização é perfeita (no coração da melhor rua do Capitol Hill) para alguém em uma viagem de negócios estendida e / ou férias que prefere um ambiente diferente vs. um quarto de hotel, e quem vai tratar a nossa casa como o seu próprio durante o curto prazo fique. A casa está localizada em uma St. histórico que é calmo, seguro, e uma curta distância (blocos) para o famoso Mercado Oriental, Capitol, o Supremo Tribunal, Biblioteca do Congresso, Senado, etc. Também a uma curta distância são lojas, restaurantes, mercearias, duas estações de metrô, clubes de jazz, casas de café, limpeza a seco, Shakespeare Theatre, eo famoso National Mall, onde você pode visitar os museus Smithsonian para livre que incluem a National Gallery of Art, Museu de História Natural, Air and Space Museum, etc.

A telha cerâmica é no primeiro andar, com uma cozinha bem equipada, sala de jantar e sala de pó. A real home from home

This is the most beautiful property, and literally has just about everything you could possibly need. Lovely decor, clean, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and right on the Capitol Buildings doorstep. Very cosy with a kitchen, wc, and dining room downstairs and a living room, bedroom and full bathroom upstairs. Also a washing machine and dryer for small loads of washing. A bonus for me was the little garden area outside where I could smoke. The amount of information provided by the owner is phenomenal - everything from take out menus to restaurant recommendations, maps, brochures on different attractions and he also provided metro smart trip cards which you just add money to and you can use on all transport in the Metro area. Very useful. And the welcome bottle of wine left for us was gratefully received. The house is behind the main street and pretty easy to find and the Eastern Market area is literally a 5-10 minute walk for restaurants, diners, CVS pharmacy and the Metro. The Capitol building is about an 8 minute walk the other way. Very close to all the National Mall attractions including the Smithsonian museums and everywhere else is very easy to get to using the Metro bus or rail. Very safe and friendly area too. Diner just across the road and two little grocery stores in a 2 minute walk. The listing for this property was very accurate and we could fault nothing. The pre-holiday information package that we received from the owner covered everything we could think of and was very helpful. We really felt we'd struck lucky with this little house, location, condition, equipment and information provided were all completely spot on. Loved it and, not only would we recommend it to other people, we are hoping to return to Washington DC in a couple of years and will not be looking for anywhere else to stay. It was perfect for us.

Great location for not having a car.

The house was in a PERFECT location just blocks away from the Metro that took us everywhere. I would recommend to someone wanting to stay here to not get a rental car. Directions here were perfect. Two adults and two kids (7&10) landed in Reagan airport and Metro'd on the blue line to the house. We walked to the house following Ken's detailed instructions. Once inside, there were more directions on the cork board by the kitchen with checkout instruction reminders and metro cards so you wouldn't have to purchase a card (just add fare to them). Then in the dining room was a black book with places to eat and things to see. I already had an itenerary, but places to eat was also just a walk away on 7th or 8th street past the metro stop. CVS was by the metro and a Safeway a bit of a walk away. The sights to see were off of the Metro and an easy walk. We brought our own toiletries, but he has some for your use if you forget. We went to the Eastern Market - oh if I lived there, I'd be in Heaven. Just two blocks away is fresh produce and fresh seafood heaven! A farmer's market on weekends that was reminiscent of my CA roots. I would HIGHLY recommend this home. It was easy to book, easy to get to, and easy to get to and from everything to see in Washington DC. Thanks Ken!!

We weren't impressed at all.

3 stars is probably too much. The picture of the place is very deceiving. The picture should be of the back alley where the location actually is. It was hot every night because the air shuts off in the middle of the night. The shower doesn't work all that well. Beware of anything you touch that might break because the owner will rob you of your deposit even when it's clear that you should get your money back. I also don't believe the owner should enter the unit while you are staying there when you aren't there. Rat traps were everywhere, and the linens were terrible. Find another place to stay.

Resposta do proprietário: We have as our motto to EXCEED EXPECTATIONS with your stay in our Carriage House. With 180 guest reviews and a 4.9 Star rating we think that our record is very good and speaks for itself. We would like to beat our own drum but previous guests have done that for us and they are believable. This one very sour comment by this recent guest suggest otherwise. Did Owners somehow charm 180 folks over 8 years to believe that they had a great experience or were they telling the TRUTH about their respective stays? The comments in this guest review were prompted by a petty attempt at revenge against Owners for not returning their full Security Deposit. Owners were told in advance that we would receive a low rating if the full deposit wasn’t returned. In a lot of places that sounds like BLACKMAIL. We won’t be intimidated to do the wrong thing for a petty gain. NONE of the nasty comments referencing; Rats, Robbery, Deception, Shower malfunction, Shoddy linens are true, or one of the other 180 guests would have attested to those issues. The guest tried very hard to escape an obligation to pay for a bathroom scale which she broke. The scale has a max weight limit of 300 pounds, so I can’t be held responsible if she over loaded it. We understand that accidents do happen. However, the renters Security Deposit is there to assure the Owners that any items broken by carelessness is replaced by like kind. Once we were asked to adjust the nighttime setback on the AC, we did so as requested immediately. Our only other engagement was to determine the nature of reported damage during the stay. We did replace the broken scale and advised the guest that their deposit would be charged for a replacement. This guest had an opportunity to purchase Renter’s Insurance for a small nonrefundable fee. By electing to make a refundable deposit, they took the risk to save some money. As Owners, we took the risk that they would be responsible and trustworthy with our investment. In 99 percent of the time, things work as expected, minor adjustments needed are attended to in real time, and deposits are refunded, in full, in seven days as promised. We are proud Owners of a Vacation Rental Property and feel certain that our 8 years in the business and hundreds of satisfied guests will keep our unit in demand.

DC Carriage House Review for July 2017 Stay

Ken's carriage house exceeded our expectations. Ken thinks of absolutely everything you would ever need to stay in his house and all we had to do was enjoy our stay. The property is walking distance to everything you want to do in Washington, D.C. The apartment was clean, well stocked, quiet and we even had the opportunity to meet a couple of the neighbors and talk with them. We ate in several good local restaurants and if we do come to Washington, D.C. again, we will definitely book this house again. Ken is very personable, works hard at making sure his guests have everything they need, and genuinely cares for the people who book his Carriage House. Ken even provided us with a very nice bottle of wine since we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. You can't go wrong with booking this amazing DC Carriage House.

Cute Carriage House Stay

We stayed 5 nights and the home while a little hard to find once we did it was great! Very functional and in a good neighborhood so we walked to the restaurants at night. We were able to walk to the capital and catch the hop on hop off bus from there. There is a small kitchen which was very functional but we spent most of our time upstairs in the family room area off of the bedroom. The bed was great and we had great night sleeps. Washington is a walking kind of place so a comfy bed was awesome! We got to meet Kenneth and he as was great!

An elegant old row house.

Loved it! I always try to find a house that reflects the area I am visiting. This house did that!!! Yes, I would rent it again. Ken was helpful both before our arrival and during our stay. Beautiful street and fun shops and places to eat in the area. We had breakfast twice at Jimmy T's Place. We bought needed supplies at the little neighborhood grocery store across from Jimmy T's. Enjoyed the Eastern Market with all the varieties of fresh food. Also had breakfast there. So much to see and do in DC. Good location for walking to the Capital and that area or the Metro. Need way more than one week to do it all. Thank you, Ken.
