This cabin is a nice one and if you are looking for a cabin in the middle of the woods with no neighbors around, this is the cabin for you.
Pros: cabin is all by itself with no neighbors for at least a 1/4 mile in every direction. There is a really nice back porch overlooking the woods with a grill and a table and chairs. The interior of the cabin was super clean and it is really nice with nice appliances, etc. The owner is super responsive and you can usually always get her on the phone or email within a few minutes to an hour.
Cons: Internet is terrible. It is technically high speed, but while we were there download speed was never higher than .76 mbs! That is faster than dial up but not high speed by any stretch of the imagination. If you just want to check emails or do some light web surfing, it will work fine. If you want to do Netflix or anything more intensive, it will just lead to frustration.
The Satellite TV reception is terrible as well. It has a couple of nice TVs in the house, it has Dish Network, but about 75% to 80% of the time, it says there is no signal. The house does have a couple of DVD players and they do have DVDs available, so that is what you are going to be mostly watching. The DVD selection is what you would find in the bargain bin at Walmart, so if you want to quality movies or shows you might want to bring your own stuff.
Access to the cabin. The gated resort is nice, but the roads inside the resort are super narrow, steep, and winding. If you have a normal car or SUV it is fine although getting in and out of there is not something you want to do more than once a day. If you are going there, stock up on food, and then just hibernate at the cabin for a week. That would be the best way to do it.
So overall, my opinion of the cabin is good. If it was just myself and my wife, and we could have just hibernated here for a week, I would have loved it. But I brought four kids that love watching videos and playing games on line or watching TV, that was frustrating. It may not be an issue for you, but I just wanted to make the next person aware of the situation.
We were very impressed with the beauty of the area and the comfort of our cabin. It was wonderful to stay someplace that actually looked liked the pictures. We were a short drive to Ellijay, Jasper and Blue Ridge. We will definitely be coming back.
My family and I wanted to do something different for Christmas this year and renting this cabin was one of the best things we have ever done. Even though it rained most of our stay, we had everything to keep up entertained. My children love the game room very much with their own bedroom on that floor, my mom loved her room on the upper level and I enjoy the view from the deck in the back especially in the mornings. I never thought my experience would be so relaxing and the view was breathtaking. My family enjoyed their short walk on those days there were no rain. The kids found a little trail to the stream and it was wonderful because they have never experience nature like they did on this trip. Everything was provided on the trip the only things that we brought were food and condiments no need for us to go down into the town because we had just about everything we need. The weather was beautiful minus the rain. The cabin was very clean, my family enjoyed their stay very much and we are looking to do this every year for Christmas it's a wonderful experience and I guarantee anyone that stay there will feel the same way. On our last day there my children were very sad and my mom as well. If you love seclusion and tranquility this is the place for you . We will be booking our second trip very soon thank you guys for a wonderful stay.
Great place to get away from it all, I had forgotten how many stars are in the sky at night. We sat around the fire pit every night and roasted marshmallows, and I just gazed into the sky most of the time.
The owner and property manager were great.
Beautiful cabin and remote(peaceful).
The teenagers enjoyed the game room. We would drive down to the main gate for the pool and basketball.
Take groceries so you don't have to drive to get food.
The cabin had everything we needed.
We loved our stay
Everything was beautiful. The cabin was perfect for our family. We had a few issues with the AC unit but the problem was fixed not long after we called the maintenance man.. He was very prompt and friendly. We loved how peaceful and secluded if felt. Our teenagers loved the game room and the variety of music available. We enjoyed Carters lake which was just down the road. We also enjoyed shopping in Downtown Ellijay. The General store at Eagle mountain offers river rafting/tubing and we all had a blast floating down the Coosawattee river. Cant wait to do it all again.
Let me start by saying this was our first vacation in 3 years. It was myself, my husband, our son (6 years), our daughter (15 months at the time), my brother, his wife, their daughter (15 years) and their son (12 years). The cabin was absolutely beautiful. And the setting was great. The owner was very nice to do business with. We were able to do a lot of hiking locally and also drive less than two hours for some other great day trips.
I do want to point out a few things though: the 3 older kids loved the game room (as well as the men). However if you have a young child like myself, there really wasn't much for her to do. The only place outside for her to play was in the road as there isn't a back yard and the front slopes. All the kids were disappointed about this as they had brought soccer balls.
And with stairs we were having to get the 15 month old off of them all the time.
The only TV that we were allowed to hook the video game system too was downstairs in the 3rd bedroom. So all of us could not play at once. Which turned out not to be a problem as the system couldn't be hooked up to the TV since it was old. The newer TVs had the ports covered with DO NOT USE on them. So not new video friendly.
The lay out was good for the cabin. The 3 older kids slept downstairs. One couple in the main floor bedroom. One couple in the upstairs bedroom (which was large enough to set up the playpen for the baby to sleep in). The biggest complaint from the adults regarding the bedrooms were the beds. They slept terrible and squeezed and creaked every single time you moved! Makes for a hard night.
We all enjoyed the fire pit. And the kids loved the nightly fires. The bikers in the family loved the roads through the community.
Please note that the swimming pool is lovely but it IS about 3 miles or so from the cabin. No just walking to it. Which is fine for most people, but for us that was a long trek with two young children. It was a great pool though. Well kept. And the one time we made the trip, we all had fun.
Ending thoughts- the cabin was beautiful with breath taking views. Super cozy. Located close enough to lots of different things to do. And it's very secluded. However- it might be best for families without very young mobile children. And not for gamers at this time.
Overall- we all enjoyed it. And the kids are still talking about it. Thanks for a wonderful vacation.
