Although we were only there for 4 days, we had a great time. The place was stylishly renovated - modern but still homely. The location is ideal, a short walk away from Barmouth (nearby beach town) with other attractions and nature trails within the area. Victoria was incredibly friendly and helpful, and the welcome hamper was brilliant for the well equipped kitchen!
It was such a nice time in Arthog. The place is beautiful and calm and the house is nice and comfortable. Thank you so much!
We loved staying in Victoria's cottage. My little boy says 'it's the best cottage in the world!'.
It was very tastefully decorated, had everything we needed, was very clean, comfortable and most importantly had a fantastic location. The views from the cottage across the Mawdach estuary were beautiful and the cottage is ideally sited for all the main attractions, beach, walks in the mountains and close to Dolgellau for getting supplies.
Whilst the weather was mainly wet it didn't stop us doing some great walks (don't miss the Arthog Falls which you can walk to from the cottage). Our 8 year old son loved crabbing at Barmouth and we also visited a slate mine and went on the Tallynn Railway.
A highlight was also vising The George Inn at Penneapool...again more crabbing and a beautiful spot for a drink in the evening.
We will definitely be back with our bikes to cycle the Mawdach trail....again another big bonus being located so close to the cottage.
Finally, we couldn't fault Victoria's customer care. From the point of booking until the end of our holiday she was so helpful in providing us with information, tips about the local area and ensuring that our stay was as comfortable as possible.
It is a pleasure to write this review as my family and I had a wonderful holiday in Arthog, North Wales. The property is perfect, easy to get to and use as a base for the local area but yet cosy and quiet. The cottage has been finished to a high standard and was very much a home from home. The owners Sean and Victoria are very nice people who could not do enough to help us prepare and enjoy our stay as we asked and needed. There really is a touch of class to this property. The views from cottage are beautiful and its location to the local seaside spots is just perfect. We really did have a great time. As a family with very young children travelling is never easy but the cottage was still so relaxing and enjoyable. We are pleased to have found a little gem that we will return to one day 100%.
We had a lovely week in the cottage. Great place to recharge your batteries. Very peaceful and a great base for cycling the Mwddach trail which is literally across the road. Also lovely just to stroll along the trail in the evening to spot herons and all kinds of bird life. Cottage is well equipped and very cosy and welcoming. Beds are very comfy! Reasonably sized co-ops in Barmouth and Dolgellau for provisions. Lovely welcoming hamper of local produce on arrival. We enjoyed walking up to the pretty waterfalls close to the cottage. Owner very welcoming and friendly.
We booked this cottage as a weekend getaway to give our pooches a little holiday, and for us of course.... The location of the cottage was perfect - the Mawddach trail was right on our doorstep, with great access to Barmouth beach and town!
Barmouth itself has some lovely pubs and eateries, along with ice cream parlours and fish and chip shops - everything you could possibly want from a seaside resort!
We had really lovely weather during our stay, so the beach was a great way for the dogs to run themselves silly.
The cottage was brilliant - it was everything that we had hoped for. It was modern, but its traditional features still remained, such as thick stone walls and exposed beams!
The beds were lovely and comfortable with quality bedding, lovely fabrics and lots of thick fluffy towels were provided and even the kitchen was well equipped with everything you could possibly want.
The cottage was just perfect, the little touches like the welcome pack (bacon, bread, milk & butter) was a pleasant surprise.
Victoria (the property owner) was lovely and greeted us with a warm welcome, she provided us with lots of local information and restaurant recommendations!
Overall we were made up with our stay - the cottage was clean and tidy, we are hoping to re-visit very soon!
Go ahead and book - you won't be disappointed.
