If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with family and/or friends and one where you can bring your dog(s), we highly recommend Wildflower Farms in Poultney, Vermont. The house is lovely, the grounds are vast and beautiful, and the little town of Poultney was really quite charming. It was a joy for us to be able to spend a week at this home and bring our two dogs. We hiked just about every day on the property, except the one day it rained. The dogs were so happy that they did not want to go home... : )
I actually stayed here last Spring, but embarrassingly forgot to write a review in a timely manner! The house itself felt huge (we live in an urban-suburban area condo), so us two humans and two 40-lb. dogs were very comfortable. The house and property were very private, quiet, and relaxing, which is what we desired for our vacation. The master bedroom was spacious with a very comfortable bed and bedding. It was great to feel like we were out in the country, but still have access wifi and Netflix! We really enjoyed taking walks on the road the house is off of. We saw several horses, a donkey, and got waves from friendly neighbors on our daily walks. It was also great to have the BBQ outside. The owner was very responsive and left a lot of great information with directions for hiking and various things to do in the area. The property is not far from Green Mountain College, where there is a little town with some small shops. The only downside of our stay was that there were carpenter ants in the kitchen, but I suppose that's to be expected in the countryside during the warmer months. All in all, we had a lovely time during our stay.
I have stayed with my husband and a dog for a week in July and it was a perfect week! Weather was a dream!
House is very comfortable and accommodating. I am hoping to be able to stay there again soon!
We arrived at the property at night and found it to be warm and tastefully decorated. The bedrooms were comfortable and the kitchen stocked with necessities. The next morning in daylight, we were able to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings and even though we had a few rainy days, we were able to explore the property. There were some horses boarding in the field which was an extra treat to see. Only wish the weather had been better and our stay longer to explore more. The house is located fairly close to Main Street in Poultney and Green Mountain College where we were visiting a student. We came in from the Burlington area and the navigator took us along back roads for quite a while which was an adventure in itself in the dark (had to wait for goats to move out of the way) but getting into Poultney the next day from the house was very easy. The wifi worked fine and Barbara was a pleasure to deal with.
We have stayed at this beautiful home for a week in the summer on at least five occasions. There is plenty of room for everyone, even the dog! The dog has enjoyed these weeks in Poultney as much as we have. It's the perfect place to retreat from our usually hectic lives. Poultney is a quaint and welcoming town. We often enjoy attending the Saturday night rodeos at nearby Castelton ranch, as well as horseback riding. Most other attractions are rather far, so you do have to plan on driving quite a bit. The owners have always been easy to communicate with and more than happy to accommodate us with any needs, concerns or questions. Wildflower Farms is a treasured getaway for us and has provided our family with countless priceless moments, photos and memories!
My husband and I stayed at Wildflower Farms with our two kids and our dog for 4th of July Week. It is great to be able to find a place to bring the dog. The surroundings were beautiful. It was a treat to find horses in the field when we went for a walk the first day! The kids and the dog loved having the freedom to roam. The house was a great size. When we first arrived we noticed the AC was not in so we called the owners and they had someone at the house 20 minutes later to install them. The only criticism we have is it seemed like it had been a while since anyone was in the house. The floors and furniture were dusty and the house smelled closed up. I washed all the dished and cooking utensils before we used anything. The bathrooms could have been cleaner. So overall we had a good trip, I just wish they had a cleaning company go through before we arrived.
