We, 3 adult/3 kids (16, 14, and 10 y.o.), spent 2 weeks in Paris and Italy and Sorrento was the highlight of our Trip! Our kids wanted to cancel our Rome stop to stay longer. The place is a recently renovated farm house with high end appliances and comfortable furnishings. It is attached to the main house but offers you a private gated courtyard which is shown in the picture. Both the owner and property manager, Rita, a wealth of knowledge and a local in the tourism industry, were quick and courteous to respond to our rental inquiries and questions. Rita checked us in and was able to make suggestions on where to go and where to eat, like our personal guide/concierge. Rita arranged transportation to/from Naples train station as the local train from Naples to Sorrento would be difficult with all our luggage...a great suggestion if you plan to go by train from Rome. She also took my girls and I on a "local" shopping trip in Sorrento. She even arranged for 2 home cooked Italian dinners which were ready when we came back from our day trips to Capri and Pompei, and ate like the locals do. Rosalita, cooked for a huge party and the food was amazing and delicious...better than the restaurants. We didn't have a car but did well with the local bus to get to Sorrento town which is only 10 minutes away....the bus, which passes in front of the house, doesn't run too often, every 1 1/2 hours or so, but if you time it right there is no need for a car and taxis were pricey (40+ euro each way). Day trips were either by train or boat from Sorrento. The place was very comfortable for the six of us and eight would be fine also. We couldn't rave more about this place when we got home and our friends are already planning their trip to "Lemon Grove".
We (4adults/2teenagers)had the opportunity to stay at this residence and there is little we can say about the home other than the experience was just wonderful. The site explains it in detail and is 100% accurate. The rooms are all comfortable and appointed in a contemporary/clean style. The home offers a number of separate areas-both inside and out-that guests can enjoy together-or have to themselves. Everything is brand new-but there is no mistaking the 'bones' of the home which are quite old and they have clearly spent the time and money to preserve aspects of this throughout; custom made windows and exterior doors show the details of the building’s rich history. From the hardware to the ancient doors to the exposed stone-you know you are in a special home with history. The private, and secured courtyard, is truly special. Escape to the rooftop for sunset views of the hillside to views of the water and Mt. Vesuvius. Parking for the Villa is on street, but is easy, safe and adds to the authenticity of the stay. Though the house is in the ‘center’ of Priora, keep in mind, there really isn’t much (in terms of the word ‘center’) We had NO issue of noise and appreciated the close proximity. Next door we enjoyed a local bar-though called the “american bar”. It’s was a nice local, family owned restaurant and bar where we enjoyed playing cards outside and grabbed a simple and inexpensive bite and drink. Seeing the locals arrive on their scooters added to the fun. We did not try it due to limited time, but there is another restaurant within walking distance. Just a quick drive and the larger town in the area of Sorrento. It’s a bustling energetic town with some good places for food and shopping. We spent some time looking at a few hotels in the area and we were grateful to be back at the Villa. There is no comparison for space, quality, and price. We also preferred some of the quieter side streets for exploring. Capri is a must. Rent a “Gozzo” and sail on your own for a wonderful day trip. The owner, Tommaso, can give you all the details of the great place he suggested we rent from (and many more), but don’t skip this. For approximately $200USD, you can spend the entire day boating to and around the island. More time, go again or take boat to Positano. There are a number of small towns, beaches, etc…. just 15-25 minutes away, by car.
We had the great opportunity to stay in the wonderful villa in Priora before it officially was to rent. Two families, 4 adults and 4 kids (11-15 years old) spent two weeks perfect summerholiday there! The house has the highest quality in design, details, interior and open spaces. Even there`s a large variety of things to do and to see in the area you easily can enjoy your time in the house, on the courtyard between the lemon trees or on the sunny roof terrace with the splendid view to the Golf of Napels and the Vesuv.
There`s a very good restaurant in the village (of course with a great view), 2 miuntes walk from the house. Or you can drive 15 minutes to St. Agatha, where you can find all shops for the daily need and also very good restaurants.
Living in the house on the hill you get the feeling of Italian life and not beeing a tourist! We had unforgettable holidays!
