Lincoln Park Scandinavian Modern

This spacious, bright, clean contemporary is a terrific value. It offered us plenty of room for seven in a very walkable neighborhood with convenient access to nightlife (there are several first-rate blues clubs within blocks), numerous dining options including excellent Chicago-style pizza (Lou Malnati's), a Whole Foods supermarket, public transportation, and Lincoln Park, itself, which is a charming four-block walk away. The kitchen is fully equipped and the dining area pleasant with views to the deck and backyard. Beds are large and comfortable. Upstairs master bedroom has quirky arrangement with the master bath, but it works. The managers were extremely responsive when we let them know the heat had not come on our first morning there (it was the first cold weekend of the season); in fact, the apartment was quite toasty thereafter. In short, this rental more than met our needs. Having visited Chicago many times, I can say that this would be an excellent place for a family to make its base of operations for a visit to this friendly city that is full of character and culture.

Just not for me!

This place got the job done and was clean, but I would not personally stay here again. The pictures currently posted do not give you a true visual of the layout or feel of the home. For me the cons outweighed the pros and in my opinion you can find better places in this price range or paying a bit more would be worth it.

-Extremely comfortable beds

-Great location with convenient parking options

-Very easy checkout process

Cons

-Wonky & undesirable layout

-Dated finishes and an overall "unfinished" feeling

-Tiny, dated showers/the upstairs shower gets the floor soaked

Just average, maybe a little below

The like:

Liked the location, easy connection on El to downtown, good bars, live music, and restaurants around. On a cul-de-sac street so quiet enough. Plenty of space for the 5 of us, leaving a bedroom empty. Had a back deck (bring your own grill, not advertised as having one and the one there is beyond use). Had coffee, olive oil, salt & pepper, flatware, pots & pans, reasonable glassware (no martini glasses or shaker but that's us). Appliances worked (used fridge, stove, oven, washer & dryer, TV). Beds, linens, towels were comfortable and in good shape (only 1 kitchen towel).

The not-so-much:

No spatula. Pans are too large to fit in the oven. Patio needs a power wash. From-the-ground-up construction site next door (that'll pass). Upstairs shower pretty much floods the floor. AC upstairs only, so 2 downstairs bedrooms get hot. Little unusual layout with a catwalk upstairs and bath shared by 2 bedrooms. A number of unfinished touches like missing molding where wall meets ceiling, HDMI cable snaked in front of entertainment center to connect TV. Many speakers through out but no way to work them.

The owners should invest a little in maintenance and completion given the cost. Also don't appreciate an offer of a 10% discount on repeat business for a 5 star rating. That's called a bribe.

We have noted your recommendations although we really wish you would have responded to our email the day after you arrived where we asked if there was anything we could do while you were staying with us. We would have promptly addressed and discomforts or items you were missing. Unfortunately we can't do anything about neighborhood construction as they don't ask or let us know what they intend to do. We think the catwalk is a great piece of architecture! The shared bathroom is called a Jack & Jill and is very common so I am not sure why that is a negative. We have already begun fixing the minor issues you brought to our attention. Please read your follow up email again as we offered you a 10% discount whether you left us a 5* review or not. Hopefully you will give us a chance the next time you are in Chicago and use your discount! We appreciate your business.

Great place with little fault

My family and my parents (total of 7) stayed at this condo for 5 nights. It is a nice condo in a cute and quiet neighborhood. They were very accommodating and the cleaning lady and man that came to check on the house were both pleasant. Pulling up and seeing the outside, I was a little worried but the inside is very nice. There are lots of stairs to get to the condo after entering the front door, which was hard for my parents in their 60's but they did ok. There is a living room, the kitchen, 1 bathroom and 2 bedrooms on that floor and you have to take more stairs that are uncarpeted and slippery when wearing socks to get to the other 2 bedrooms and 2nd bathroom. There was construction going on at the house next door but It didn't bother us much. There is a door to enter the building that did not lock and needs to be fixed but the front door to the actual condo locked as long as you pulled it shut hard. The door to the upstairs shower needs to be repaired or changed since the bottom does not close completely (unless you're on the outside and can use your foot) and water leaked, causing me to wash a few soaked towels every day. The shower downstairs is extremely tiny but still usable. They did provide Folgers coffee which we greatly appreciated. The AC worked fine but is set up to go to 82 degrees after a few hours so the house was extremely hot when we got back from a day of sightseeing and took some time to cool down. I cooked breakfast most mornings and could have used a spatula and some tongs but everything else we needed was there. There is a CVS, a few restaurants, and a park within walking distance and we Ubered everywhere else. Overall, we felt it was a great place to stay for a few days in a great location and gave it 5 stars.

Perfect Location, Clean, Comfortable and Spacious!

We were here for the Chicago Marathon, October 6th-10th with 7 family members. The layout was perfect for us, bedrooms and linens comfortable, bathrooms clean and worked well with double sinks in both. Kitchen was bright and had everything we needed. Nice deck at the back to enjoy the cool evenings and mornings. Spacious dining room with 6 chairs, and a wood burning fireplace. Living room had great natural light and plenty of seating. Quick walk to the El, restaurants, bars, CVS and Whole Foods. We would definitely stay here again great home base to see Chicago!! Reservations Holly! was extremely informative and attentive. Check in and out was a breeze. Pay the extra for garage parking, it is so worth it not having to find a spot!
