We stayed here for 5 nites early November 07 and the location was ideal. Only about 10 minutes from the aiport with little, if any, traffic to contend with. Costco is nearby and Kona with its' Ali'i drive is quite close.
The house is kept immaculate and the location is very quiet. We enjoyed sleeping in and then heading out to Ali'i drive or to other good nearby snorkeling beaches.
Judy, the owner, also stocks quite a number of beach items like Boggie boards, coolers, picnic baskets, etc. and she knows the island well.
The Stadium cinema next to K-mart is also about 10 minutes away. Of course we reserved the movies for after dark when you cannot swim nor can you see any of the beauty of Hawaii after sunset.
I recommend this place for anyone wishing to spend some time in Kona.
We stayed for a week in Judy's studio apartment and were beyond pleased with the accommodations. Judy welcomed us personally and gave us an overview of the area, and offered local restaurant and entertainment recommendations. She checked in on us several times and even brought us some freshly baked bread that she sells at a local farmer's market. We loved our week on the Big Island and can't wait to get back! Thank you Judy!
Judy is a great host and the apartment, which is compleatley separate from the main house, is fully equipped. Bath robes, outdoor grill, coffee maker, full fridge, veranda, very comy bed, rolling cooler, snorkeling equipment, beach towels and a welcome basket with some of Judy's home grown fruit. There was everything we needed. Watch the birds in the morning or sunset in the evening, there is no other property between you and the coastline. Higher elevations for comfortable sleeping tempatures. Ten minutes by the upper road into Kona town and you will avoid the work they are doing on the Queen K Highway. Will definitely return and recommend to others.
Fantastic accommodation away from the main tourist area, however an easy drive to the centre for restaurants, bars etc. We loved the quiet relaxing atmosphere, great balcony for dinning and watching the sunset. We never had any problem with the heat as the studio is located on a higher elevation than the town and therefore offers cooler temperatures for sleeping. Judy is a wonderful host, she respects her guests privacy and will offer helpful tips and advise whenever asked. The studio is well represented by the photos in the VRBO add. Lots of room for a couple. The kitchen was well stocked and the barbeque worked well we would not hesitate to recommend.
On a scale of 5, this little bit of paradise was a 6! It was away from the noisy tourist areas, very quiet and totally relaxing. It is situated within five minutes of the airport and there is such easy access to everything we wanted to do. Judy was so helpful in advising us on every question we had. The property was very clean and well maintained and we were greeted with a large basket of fruit and there were gorgeous exotic flowers in the apartment, all grown by Judy. The listing was very descript and accurate and there were even more amenities than we expected from the advertising. We have already spread the word of this wonderful retreat. If you want a romantic getaway, this is the place! We went to several beaches (you do need a car), horseback riding in Waipio Valley, the botanical gardens (beautiful and worth the trip), grilled out nightly as we watched the Pacific Ocean, dined at the Harbor Grill (fabulous food) for lunch, and enjoyed spotting wild animals all over the island daily. We were so well taken care of here and the studio is very well appointed with anything you need. We highly recommend it!
This property is great, because
- it is a very quiet location with a great view over green slopes to the pacific ocean
- you are close enough to Kona and places to stock up your supplies
- the condo is fully equipped with everything you need, even snorkeling and beach items
- you can enjoy the surrounding nature from your private balcony
- there is Judy, the owner who gave us many useful hints
- and we had a great evening with Judy exchanging experiences about wild animals in her garden and Africa.
Good for 2 peoples, but a car is essential.
We stayed for 5 nights and always enjoyed our poke tuna on the balcony instead of spending our money in Kona restaurants.
