While staying at this condo I contacted the owner with cleanliness issues and he responded “I cleaned it myself. Good luck lady!” I called HomeAway and they couldn’t believe the rude response, they filed a complaint against the owner and suggested we write a review to alert others. So here goes…We were in town to move our daughter into an apartment. We arrived after 10p on the 1st day and were tired from a busy travel day and from moving our other daughter into her dorm in Utah the 2 days prior and went straight to bed. We did notice though that the toilet was not clean - figured it had been overlooked and also noticed that 5 of 6 light bulbs in the bathroom were out. We woke up early the next day to get to a storage unit at 6:45a for an 8a move-in. I got in the shower stall and noticed hair on the wall, in the drain and on the floor. We were in a rush so I cleaned that up and within a minute I was standing in over an inch of water and hair. At this point we should’ve contacted the owner, instead we rushed out and were busy with the move-in until late and went straight to bed again. When we got up the next morning we had some time to spend at the unit and this is when we realized other issues. Besides the dirty bathroom and the burned out bulbs, we noticed that the floors had not been swept or mopped properly, crumbs in the kitchen drawers, bags of leftover chips that were left open, and dried food on spoons and bowls. But that wasn’t all! I was sitting on one of the couches and saw what I thought were 2 big spiders on the arm of a chair only to find that they were large fake eyelashes! We sent a message to the owner to make him aware that his cleaning crew did not properly clean and asked him to contact us. After about 2 hours we decided we couldn’t stay any longer. We reserved a hotel for the night, took photos for documentation and left. We sent another message that we had left and wanted to be contacted to discuss a refund. His response “I cleaned it myself. Good luck lady”. We’ve rented with vacation rental companies many times in the US and Europe and have never had an experience like this! We are definitely not clean freaks but we do expect the owner to have pride in their rental and for it to be cleaned properly. In return, we treat the rentals with respect, as we would our own home; leaving them clean and tidy when departing. There is no pride in ownership; he doesn’t care about the renter, just the money.
Excellent location; Beautiful complex!
Instructions provided by owner were excellent; prompt response to questions; Apartment/condo was clean and spacious; Amenities, including pool, beautiful common area, pool table, putting green, access to kayaks/scooters/bike rental and the location on Tempe Town Lake were superb! Would definitely rent in this location again.
