Large Chalet with Beautiful Alaska View
My family and I enjoyed staying at the Wild Rose Chalet in Moose Pass. When we first drove up to it, we were a little unsure if we were in the right spot but then we saw the Wild Rose sign. From that side of the chalet, it appears a lot smaller than it actually is. The door was open and shortly after that the owner arrived to go over a few things with us. We didn’t see him for the rest of our stay – but they were close by if needed. We were greeted with the Crème Brule French Toast casserole which we enjoyed for breakfast the next morning. That was much appreciated.
The chalet is very large with a nice open space. Everything appeared as shown online including the spectacular view of the mountains and lake. We were lucky to have mostly good weather. We spent most mornings sitting out on the deck with our coffee. Although you can't see it, the highway does run between the chalet and the lake so that was a little loud. Inside with the door shut, you couldn’t hear it. It was fun to watch the float planes taking off and landing.
There are canoes and kayaks to use and, although not real handy to get at, we did take the canoes out for an hour-long trip around the lake.
The hot tub is well-maintained and really nice. Unfortunately, we only used it once because we were usually busy running here and there. We had to travel a couple hours or more to get to our activities which were in Homer and Kenai. Seward was closer, maybe 30-40 minutes away.
Sleeping was good because of the dark shades so that helped with the midnight sun. Beds were okay.
Kitchen was well supplied, and we grilled out several times. You will want to be stocked up on groceries while at the bigger cities because there really isn’t anything close. On one of the rainy days we did find a cute little shop down the road that sold souvenirs and delicious homemade fudge. And not too far from there was a handmade knife shop that we were lucky enough to be given a little personal tour of to see how he makes them. Was really interesting and a nice treat for my grandsons.
If you want to be away from the crowds and don’t mind the extra driving, I would definitely recommend the Wild Rose chalet in Moose Pass.
Beautiful property, awesome view!
This place was incredible. Gary was a great host and Treva keft a Creme Brulee French toast casserole for us. This was the best furnished rental we have ever stayed in. So many little items, fabulous view of the lake with flat planes and a hot tub to relax in. Great location for day trips. Loved it!
Great property. Loved the use of the kayaks and the hot tub. Easy drive into Seward. The creame brûlée French toast was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
Perfect Cozy Getaway
My husband and I just stayed for the second time at this beautiful property. We had a fabulous time soaking in the hot tub as we watched the snow fall on the mountains. We also enjoyed making meals in the gourmet kitchen and then curling up in the cozy living room to watch movies on the comfortable furniture and big screen TV. The high ceilings and abundant windows make this property a very special place. We hope to come back for another rejuvenating visit!
The house is awesome for groups! The view is fantastic and the location is great!
The house is perfect for a large group. There are two microwaves, two ovens, and two dishwashers. There was plenty of well maintained cookware and plenty of plates, bowls, utensils, crockpots, and dish towels etc. The view is spectacular from the windows. It’s a short drive to some awesome hikes. The hike up to Carter Lake is beautiful but steep. The first part of the ptarmigan trail is basically flat and easy walking next to a beautiful creek. We went to Seward to the Sealife center and then just up the road there was an awesome gelato store that had homemade fudge!
The owner Gary was great. Easy to contact and answered any questions we had. It takes a little bit of time for the hot water to reach the upstairs showers. I recommend running both sinks. We were all very happy and comfortable and hope to return next year!
Glad your group enjoyed using the chalet. Look forward to your return in the Spring.
Enjoyed the space and the location. Day trips to Whittier and Seward along with hiking adventures and a float plane tour directly from the lake. Great chalet, clean and with everything you need along friendly and helpful hosts.
No meio de tudo o que há para fazer na Península de Kenai.
