Luxury living with attentive homeowner
We were having a sibling and spouse reunion and found JB’s home to be a perfect location and setting. Beautiful home. Beautiful views. JB bent over backwards to make our stay comfortable and first class. He even supplied the deer and bird food for the beautiful creatures who live around the home. If you’d like to dine in the exquisite dining room in the picture but don’t want to cook, JB can connect you to friendly Chef Tim, for a Lobster Bake and home made blueberry pie! Outstanding! We are Homeaway/VRBO fans, and highly recommend Oceansedge.
spectacular way to spend our 35th wedding anniversary with friends
Outstanding property with a superb aspect and very well maintained. The furnishings made it feel just like home. The “equipment” throughout was top notch. We can’t think of anything we missed while staying at the house. It’s comfortable even as the temperatures started to drop and was very quiet even when the wind was blowing strongly. Everything was just right. JB - thanks for sharing your lovely property.
Outstanding guests! It was a pleasure and privilege to have them.
Guests like these give purpose to all of us here, to do everything possible, to present the property as best we can.
Cannot Recommend Highly Enough!
Our family spent the last week of August 2018 at Oceansedge with family friends and cannot recommend it highly enough.
1) This house has outstanding ocean views. One can spend an awful lot of time just gazing out at the water.
2) Staying here was less like staying at a rental cottage and more like staying at a friend's nice home. It is attractive, comfortable, fully stocked and well maintained. The photos are accurate.
3) Our families' 4 children under the age of six loved the tame wildlife which ate from their hands and the unique bunkroom.
4) The owner takes great pride in the house and in helping guests get the most out of their stays.
5) Finally, if you have young kids and aren't sure which part of coastal Maine to visit, I strongly recommend MDI. There is just more for kids to do there than other places.
Well worth it!
This was a discriminating guest -- he came very well prepared, well organized, enthusiastic, and with high expectations.
I welcomed the challenge to do an exceptionally good job for that guest and for his family.
In the end, that guest and his family were able to say, I think, that their time in Maine was a rich and rewarding experience -- and that it was fun and memorable.
I do greatly hope so.
Maine should welcome guests like these.
I for one would always welcome their return, even if only in the course of them passing through Hulls Cove to say hello and to boast about the Chicago Cubs!!
Very nice people -- the fundamental purpose of the property has everything to do with guests like them.
Last week, our party of four had the privilege of staying at this beautiful property. On arrival, we were met with a home that was immaculately clean, beautifully appointed, well stocked and very welcoming. Fresh flowers, soft music and warm lights were but a few of the details on arrival. Mr. Dyer, the home owner obviously pays attention to every detail. He even had a Texas flag flying to welcome our group from Texas.
The location, Hulls Cove is perfect. Far enough away from the Bar Harbor congestion, but close enough to access the Island Explorer. The Hulls Cove Visitor Center is close enough to walk, ride a bike or park the car to get onto the free transit system offered throughout Acadia National Park. Our party rented bikes for the week, rode to the Hulls Cove Visitor Center and biked throughout the park on the wonderful Carriage Roads.
Oceansedge is a one of a kind, outstanding property to enjoy. In addition to a lovely home, the grounds surrounding the home were gorgeous. Several seating opportunities outdoors to watch the sunrise, sunset and the wildlife. Corn and bird food abounded to attract the best of nature, all among flowering plants and manicured lawns.
Mr. Dryer, the owner could not have been more helpful, accommodating or welcoming. Every communication with him was more than pleasant, prompt and often humorous.
A memorable and wonderful stay in Maine at Oceansedge!
They arrived with the kind of enthusiasm expected of Texans.
They then they plunged into the week with cheer, and a sense of fun, and a love of adventure, and joie de vivre, and the love of their own company.
That property was meant for guests like these.
An indescribable amount of work goes into that property in the off-season, mostly by people who take tremendous satisfaction in thinking that the work they do there in the dead of winter will bring some joy to the guests who come there during the other half-year in Maine.
This is the sort of family that makes all the work a privilege and a joy.
What terrific guests.
It was such fun to have you there!
Prime location close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park
Oceans Edge is a meticulously maintained, beautifully landscaped, traditional home on the shores of Hulls Cove, just minutes from Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia National Park. The owner is responsive and will do his best to make your stay enjoyable. I mentioned that we hoped to bake a blueberry pie and he made sure that a new pie dish, rolling pin and food processor were waiting for us in the kitchen when we arrived. The decorations are a bit eclectic, with wild animals (taxidermy) in several rooms, and paintings of the owner's family above the fireplaces. The dining room and kitchen tables each seat six, with additional seating outside. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a dishwasher, microwave, pancake griddle, electric range, coffee maker, etc. and there are also laundry machines in one of the bedroom closets. The property is extremely private; we did not see any neighbors during our stay. There is a general store, a wine store and a very nice restaurant (The Chart Room) just up the road, and the entrance to the park is less than a mile from the house, with access to carriage roads for hiking and biking.
This property met all of our needs for a relaxing family vacation and the location simply can't be beat.
Our family had a terrific week at OceansEdge. The view is amazing, the location to Bar Harbor and Acadia was perfect. Jack was a terrific host, met us when we arrived, loved the blueberry pies, and the Maryland flag. The house was charming and the wildlife was a daily treat. Would definitely go back.
This was a heck of a family!
Enthusiastic, intellectually interested, convivial, cheerful, courteous, considerate.
It was a pleasure to have this family as guests -- the house was meant for guests like these.
It was also an honor to have been the host who welcomed them to Maine.
I wish them all the best.
