This condo is everything the description lists. It was very clean and well taken care of. The owner of this property has great customer service and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. I would recommend this property to anybody going to Luquillo. On the listing it says a car is necessary, and that is a must. The condo is gated and there is a designated parking spot to park in. Luquillo is a small town and its best attraction is the beach. Luckily, this condo has the beach right outside its balcony. It is absolutely beautiful. The beach straight out back has waves and if you walk 5 minutes (seriously) down the beach to the left there is a cove without any waves (you can see that area from the balcony as well). We are from California and I guess we are used to waves so we enjoyed both beaches. The water is a beautiful light blue and warm - a treat from what we are used to. Luquillo can be shocking from what North American cities are like. Instead of feeling scared in Luquillo (we never saw any homeless or scary looking people) we actually felt sorry for the little town because about half of the houses have been abandoned since Hurricane Hugo in 1989, but the houses that have rebuilt are quaint and well taken care of. The people we met in Luquillo were very friendly. Walking distance from the condo, on the corner of the street where the condo is, there is a restaurant named Guavas, and one street opposite the condo is a plaza with a church, a delicious bakery, the Mayor’s office and a convenience store. Next to the plaza is the police department and the post office. Five minutes drive away there are a lot of restaurants, a Walgreens and a super market. If you are used to traveling to other countries, or want to experience a different culture other than North American, then Puerto Rico and Luquillo are great places to come visit and I would say the best place to stay in Luquillo is this condo. We loved it and I even have the view from this condo's balcony as my computer's desktop wallpaper.
This is a wonderful home, and the views are amazing. The home was clean, and well prepared for our arrival. We will go there again if given the chance!
This condo was everything that we expected it to be, and much more! The pics on the home away site of the condo itself are so true to what your getting, and the description is on point truly beautiful! You do need to rent a car to get around the Island, but the condo comes with a parking spot. Both the building and vechicles are secured at all times.
The Location of this condo is perfect it's in the center of it all, 45 mins away from old San Juan, 10 from el Yunque, and minutes away from one of the most gorgeous beaches ever seen!. The view off the balcony is spectacular we loved waking up to the sound of the waves every morning. We kept the sliding doors and front door open during the day the fresh breeze that come through was just perfect, and at night we were happy with the air condition that each room had. We enjoyed dinner at the Kioskos (#22 and #23) were our absolute favorites and Boardriders steps away from the condo had (great appetizers, and burgers). Breakfast we cooked in the fully equipped kitchen, and made our perfect Spanish style coffee from the cafetera Gladys provides. But for those lazy mornings when cooking was not an option, AROMAS cafe is a walking distance from the condo and what delicious breakfast they serve we LOVED their food, pastries and coffee was superb.
Gladys (the owner) was a great host; so pleasant to work with and easy to reach for answers to any questions you may have. Overall an extremely smooth transaction and communication. She met us at the condo for the key drop off, and was ready with a list of events, and attractions to visit during our stay. We actually visited and took part in four of the tours and activities she listed for us. They made our vacation stay that much better!
We've traveled a lot but I must say this one is up there as one of our favorite places to stay, wished we could of stayed longer. Thank you Gladys for letting us stay in your hidden gem..(may not be so hidden anymore) :=)
We will return soon..
So it's not adios pero hasta la proxima no veremos pronto.. Un abrazo y gracias por todo Gladys xo
Where to start?
This place was PERFECT and true to the owner's (Gladys P.) pics and description. My family and I stayed for 5 days and we enjoyed every minute.
Gladys is wonderful and she makes the key pick up/drop off process easy. If you should have any questions, she is only a phone call away.
The location is phenomenal... We kept both the balcony and entrance doors open for an ALL day refreshing breeze and enjoyed the A/C in all three bedrooms during sleep hours. We ate dinner at the Boardrider's Surf Bar and Grill and brunch at Aroma's Café once, but our family enjoyed La Familia Bakery 2 best which is only a few minutes away. The Kioskos was another favorite; we preferred #23 and the smoothie/shake truck that is parked there for a sinful dessert.
The condo is not far from the tourist favorites...San Juan, Old San Juan, El Yunque (The Rainforest), El Charco (a must see) and of course La Pared Beach is an elevator ride and 2 minute walk away. (Be careful if you aren't a strong swimmer as the waves are aggressive and non-stop. For calmer water walk towards the large rocks to your right)
Overall the only regret was not staying longer...
Thank you Gladys for making your "Piece of Paradise" available to our family. Yet another amazing chapter added to our family memories. We can't wait to return.
Hugs to you...till next time!!!
We spent a week in Luquillo in June and it was amazing! The condo is clean, well-supplied, and exactly as described. The location can't be beat. There is access to the beach right outside the front gate (across a very small street) and down the steps. Walk a few minutes down the beach and there are calmer waters. The view from the balcony beautiful. Boardriders is right next door and is great for a couple drinks and a good meal. We ate breakfast a couple times at Aroma Café on the square. And you have to check out the kioskos. Luquillo is a great location - close to the rainforest, Fajardo, and San Juan. I'm so glad we decided to stay here. Gladys was so helpful and sweet throughout the whole reservation process, arrival, and departure. Thank you Gladys! My boys and I loved your home and hope to come back some day. I don't think they will ever forget the time we stayed at "Gladys's house". :-)
We just returned home from a week vacation in Luquillo, PR. My husband, myself and 3 children (age 9, 7, and 5) had a WONDERFUL time....so wonderful that my 5 year old was crying when we had to leave. As others have said, the condo is very casual and on the beach. We had the sliding door open whenever we were in the condo so we could listen to the waves. Next to the condo is a good restaurant/bar called Boardriders at which we ate at 2 times...on the day we arrived and on a day when we just really wanted a good burger. I agree with other reviewers, the beach directly in front of the condo is for surfers and very strong swimmers. My 7 year old, who is a very good swimmer, jumped in and I had to run into the water to pull her out. But, just walk 100 feet, and the water is much more calm and the beach is great. Luquillo Beach is a nice family beach too. We really liked that the condo building had a locked gate and the apartment itself had a locked gate in front of the door that could be locked. Others have said this, but the a area does look run down so it was good to feel "secure" in the apartment. El Yunque and El Morro were so fun to visit. Restaurants such as Boardriders, El Rincon Sabor(Amazing!), Oceano(San Juan) and Deavendura(Old San Juan) were just delicious. My only minor negative is the pool is just ok. We could not swim in it until day 5 because we were waiting for it to be cleaned(full of bugs, sand and dirt). But, I am not giving less than 5 stars because the beaches are so beautiful and warm...we did not need the pool. Finally, Gladys and her daughter were awesome. Gladys responded quickly to all of my questions and her daughter met us promptly at the airport to pick up/drop off the keys. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
