Relaxing setting on 440 acres w/ abundant wildlife & surrounding mountains & hills. Just 12 miles north of Westcliffe off Copper Gulch Road. It's a great home base for families wanting to explore the Wet Mountain Valley, the Royal Gorge, the Sand Dunes or innumerable outdoor adventures in Chaffee or Fremont County.
Well STOCKED & EQUIPPED KITCHENETTE: Ample staples, coffee, tea & (dry) breakfast essentials.
Pet fee is $60 per stay (per dog, with a 2 maximum). Leashes are recommended for pet safety.
The Space:
Kitchenette is designed for low-labor entertainment. Bring a few prepared meals ready for heating in a large counter-top (convection/infrared) oven; grilled on the gas/charcoal grill outside; a microwave; or a couple hot plate options in the stove-less kitchenette.
When finished, the dishwasher takes care of most of the clean up. Our goal is to maximize time for enjoying the ranch, plant/wildlife and the soul-enriching views, peace and quiet.
Guest Access:
This property creates an experience of having a park to yourselves.
While it is a guest house, your group has free rein to roam the property and has exclusive access to the tree-lined Labyrinth and an Eastern-inspired Meditation Room. Walks to these features are marked with benches and outdoor art. Enjoy the aesthetics of a park, while remaining private and quiet... except for the wildlife.
Enjoy outdoor eating or entertainment on a six-seat cedar table, on the patio area. Lounge chairs make for comfy sun tanning by day and stargazing at night. Large dual-chamber (gas/propane) grill is provided.
Inquire about availability of tour or an astrophotography session in the private observatory. These experiences are subject to host availability, weather and moon phase. Guests encouraged to make an appropriate donation to Dark Skies of the Wet Mountain Valley, a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization, with a mission to PRESERVE. EDUCATE. EXPERIENCE the night skies.
The Neighborhood:
This ranch borders the Cody Park Open Space, an undeveloped Colorado State Park. It's located between Westcliffe to the south and Canon City to the north. It's 20 minutes to the Arkansas River and 25 minutes to the Royal Gorge. Monarch Resort (ski area) is about 50 minutes to the west. Access to the Lutheran Camp/Rainbow Trail access is about 10 miles to the west. Hillside is about 7 miles to the west.
Getting Around:
Host will provide transportation from Colorado Springs airport or other locations with at least three days to a week advance notice. Massage and other services may be arranged with enough advance notice.
Other Things to Note:
Wind and solar power makes a net-positive contribution to the electrical power grid.
The owners live at the main house and share the driveway. From the guest house, the main house is barely visible. They welcome you to engage but also respect your privacy. Press Kitchen on the phone if you want to engage.
Interaction with Guests:
While you may opt out, Darkskies.Vacations routinely greets and provides a tour. Guests are welcome to self explore using the guest guide and map... showing routes to the Meditation Chapel, for example. Your choice.
