We very much enjoyed our stay in Corea and loved lounging on the deck set among trees overlooking the harbor. The beds were comfortable, kitchen complete, well structured usage instructions for everything, and the owners very nice people. The owners provided outstanding recommendations for activities, restaurants, and shopping, and the trip to Bar Harbor via ferry from Winter Harbor topped the list. Interestingly, we coincidentally met them on the ferry going over and saw their lovely rental in Winter Harbor on our way back to Corea, which we would also recommend.
We saw the white sand beach along the road from Corea towards Prospect Harbor on our last day and wished we had gone earlier as it is a delightful little cove tucked away from the general public and very restful. With that in mind, do be advised that this Corea property is far away from the general hustle and bustle of civilization, so if you like a few stores and restaurants around, the property in Winter Harbor is more centrally located.
My husband and I would highly recommend this lovely home. We stayed for two weeks. We already miss being there. The view from the porch was so calming as you watched the lobster boats and listened to the gulls and the soft sounds of the nearby brook. We often took daily trips to Acadia National Park and Schoodic Peninsula yet truly enjoyed just spending time in the well -furnished house. Every bedroom had multiple pillows(--just like in Better Homes and Gardens!) The color schemes were so coordinated and pretty. The beds were very comfortable and roomy. We actually slowed ourselves down to enjoy nature and read multiple books while sittiing on the deck. The hummingbirds would just continue to visit the feeder undisturbed by our nearby presence. I took many pictures so that I could preserve the memories of this beautiful home..During high tide, we enjoyed using the kayaks. The water was calm and the kayaks were easy to maneuver. Now I understand why so many cars have kayaks attached to their hoods. Maine has perfect quiet inlets to kayak .
If you visit this area, be sure to check out the many small quaint shops such as U.S. Bells, a craft shop called Chapter Two in Corea, the 5&10 shop and the Works of Hand shop in Winter Harbor. We saw harbors filled with lobster boats, perennial gardens surrounding homes, and art galleries. The huge granite rocks that line the shoreline in Maine are mind-boggling. We saw artists in several towns painting landscapes and harbors. We also went on a whale watching expedition out of Bar Harbor and a sightseeing cruise out of Northeast Harbor (a naturalist explained facts about the area and lobsters). A memorable vacation! Our thanks to the owners for providing such a clean and well-furnished home.
Many Waters was the perfect place to gather with our parents over Columbus Day weekend. We thoroughly enjoyed the house and the view. It had everything we wanted or needed, including seal sightings in the bay. It was a great base for trips to Schoodic Point and Acadia. It's nice to stay in a quiet area outside of the craziness of MDI. The nearby harbor of Corea, is also a wonderful lobstering village to visit.
Many Waters is a cottage that exudes quaintness and serenity, much like the area in which it is nestled - the Schoodic peninsula. It is off the beaten track, yet close to all that attracts one to the area. We did day trips to Campobello, Camden/Rockport, and the Blue Hill peninsula. Also, it is most convenient to Mount Desert Island. We did three separate day trips to MDI, allowing us to fully appreciate all this island has to offer. A must-do for dining in the area is The Union River Lobster Pot in Ellsworth - or, in our case, a three-do! Our stay here was a delight and would do it again in a heartbeat!
Enjoyed the cottage and our relaxing time. Weather wasexceptional, really enjoyed watching the ducks out in the bay. It was chilly, but cottage had a fireplace kept us warm and cozy.
Plenty to see and do in area, Schoodic Peninsula nearby and worth a few hours towatch
This was a cozy retreat would not go again, very dated and no water pressure, tried several times to switch routine for shower still little to no pressure . No propane for grill, had to go 12 miles to purchase. Stove was good, fireplace as well, kicked out plenty of heat as it was cold . For the cost there are better options as this is very far from MDI, and other points of interest. Also of note, the bed on first floor is 2 twins sandwich ed together not a true king, kept us apart at night. Not for spooners, need a new mattress
The location is remote, the access and roads were not hard to find. Gave it 3 stars as we travel quite a bit and stay in some unbelievable place es.
Last, whoever was the idiot that put a storm door that is out swinging on the main entry which his a 6 step stair with no platform at top should have thought it through. What a major inconvenience especially with packages and luggage.
You got to either remove it or build a platform at top step. No one should have to wrestle with a door on a steep stairway a real hazard, you simply can not negotiate it without dropping something or having to slide sideways while using an arm or leg to brace storm door. Just stupid. Really!! Was the biggest annoyance!
Estamos minutos do Acadia National Park, na ponta sul da Península Schoodic e do ferry em Bar Harbor Winter Harbor.
