The back yard is equally beautiful, 85 acres of Nature Conservancy forest preserve. While our Dune Cottage is serene and thoroughly relaxing, it also offers a launch pad to a spectacular and exciting "Pure Michigan" Up-North recreational experience. Located just minutes from Downtown Cheboygan & Mackinaw City, fun opportunities abound. The Mackinac Island Ferry, shopping & dining are just the beginning. Boaters & anglers will find numerous put-ins along the Cheboygan River, including small boat locks, leading to the 40-mile inland waterway flowing into the massive & gorgeous Mullet and Burt Lakes. Also within a half hour drive is the town of Indian River; home of many high adventure companies & the famed Cross in the Woods. The Treetop Discovery Tower and forest canopy bridge and zip line at Mill Creek Discovery Park challenge the adventurous among us. There are half a dozen state parks and also casinos within a half hour drive. A little farther afield are the pristine hiking trails leading to the breathtaking Ocqueoc Falls & considering the Mackinac Bridge is just up the street, the Upper Peninsula offers still more spectacular sights and entertainment!
