We LOVED our stay here!! :)
What amazing hosts Deb and Dana are!! And their home and property are just beautiful!! The private guest rooms were beautifully spacious with walk-in closets and seating areas in the rooms. There was also a spacious library room that had a TV, bar fridge, microwave and well stocked coffee/tea amenities. They had even provided some snacks for us, which was so thoughtful. The bathroom also had double sinks which easily accommodated us staying there .
Deb and Dana were also so gracious to share their kitchen with us at our leisure, whenever we had meals to prepare. And their 4 dogs are VERY well behaved and friendly!
We felt Deb and Dana also made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible, especially in the light of the power failure we experienced during a rare snow storm. Their home is equipped with a wood stove, so we were always warm and we put their wood stove to further use with attempting some reheating and cooking on it! They provided lanterns and candles and went to great lengths to get a generator hooked up to further provide for our comfort and needs. Deb even had breakfast prepared for us on one of the power-outage days, which was SO thoughtful of her...
We also had several opportunities to spend time with Deb and Dana and thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them. Deb has a GREAT sense of humour and we loved the new card game she taught us!
It was a complete privilege to stay in their home and I can't recommend them enough! :) We will definitely see if their home is available the next time we head to Redding!
I am overwhelmed. Sheila and Harley and their lovely daughter were the the most gracious and thoughtful people we have had the pleasure of meeting. We had a catastrophic snowstorm ( which is unheard of in these parts), knocking out power and cell service for the entire town. Nothing was open, streets were unusable, we were using lanterns and a wood stove, and we had the best time with this family. They never complained about the futile situation, they were cheerful, helpful, and very upbeat. I cannot say enough about them. They feel like family to us, and hope to see them again soon.
Home away from home<3
My husband, friend, and I were looking for a place to get away from the city for the weekend. Frankly, we were tired of hosting Thanksgiving and wanted a relaxing vacation. I came across Deborah and Dana's house on VRBO and fell in love with the pictures.
Much to our surprise, the accommodations exceeded our expectations. Walking through the house, we felt like we were transported back to our childhoods. The hosts were genial and treated us like family. They even invited us for Thanksgiving dinner and game night. In terms of our living area, there were endless board games, an eclectic selection of books, and even a TV. These amenities came in handy when it rained for 2 days straight.
Deborah and Dana's house was also pet friendly. We brought our 1 year old Australian Cattle Dog with us, and she easily got along with their 4 dogs, Moxie, Copper, Rusty, and Libby. If you're not a dog person, that's ok too. They primarily stay in the kitchen and are blocked off from the rest of the house.
In terms of location, their house is an ideal starting point for day trips to Shasta National Forest, Lassen National Park, Burney Falls, etc. There were also tons of local hikes and great food in downtown Redding. The highlights from our trip include Chamise Peak, Shasta Dam, Sundial Bridge, and brunch at Deja Vu.
Overall, we highly recommend this place because of the great hosts, wonderful accommodations, and convenient location.
Beautiful, charming, peaceful upstairs unit!
We loved our stay at the cow palace! The rooms are so nicely decorated and the host thought of everything; toiletries, coffee, snacks, etc! Loved having coffee on the back porch; it was peaceful and relaxing. It’s location was perfect, close to downtown Redding, easy drive to Burney Falls. I highly recommend!
Thank you so much!
We have been extrodinarily lucky to have such wonderful and inspiring guests. I love showing visitors the amazing sites we have in the area. There’s so much to do and see!!
The property itself is, like I said, absolutely amazing, more than anyone would want for a relaxing, quiet vacation! It is close enough to the city yet is far enough for serenity! My daughter and I hiked a couple of trails near by, they were awe striking and very challenging! Our last day there it was over 100 degrees outside, Debbie was more than gracious to let us soak in the pool/hot tub and enjoy a relaxing afternoon! I would highly recommend this place and the hostess is more than wonderful! We will definitely be going for another visit!
Beautiful home in a rural setting
Really enjoyed my brief stay at the Cow Palace. Very comfortable and spacious with all of the needed amenities at hand. Deborah was very friendly and helpful with recommending nearby attractions. The location was ideal. Close enough to the city and the interstate to make it easy to get around, but in a quiet rural, residential neighborhood that was peaceful and serene. I would definitely stay there again the next time I'm passing through Nor Cal.
Great property, very spacious
We really enjoyed our stay. Very spacious area with two bedrooms. The host are wonderful and will give you all the tips for a great stay. Would book it again in a heart beat.
