Came here with my girlfriend for a night just to get away from the city + spend some time alone. The place blew us both away, both in the beauty of the property, the perfect size, and the privacy we had. Spent a lot of time relaxing on the river that runs through the property, lounging in the backyard, and listening to music in the converted barn. The conversion from barn -> living space was beautifully done as well, with modern everything while maintaining it's rustic appeal. Check-in/check-out was as easy as can be, and is the perfect weekend get-away!
We stayed here in July 2012 with our then 3-month-old twins. It was absolutely the perfect getaway for us! The house is adorable, with a charming and cozy feel. The setting could not be more idyllic. A brook behind the backyard, a deer who came to visit each night, fireflies, and a beautiful yard, all within walking distance to town.
The little house is quaint--open concept with one bedroom. We loved the little touches like the print on the wall of Bob Dylan, the funky lamp over the table, the retro sink in the kitchen, etc.
We hope to return next summer with our girls!
Just returned from our stay. The owners were very kind and considerate. House is clean and spacious (more than enough room for 4) and close to the main part of town. Its about a 10 minute walk to the main strip and it’s a pretty walk, but if you’re out after dark, you may want to take a cab home, as the roads are dark and windy, with very little shoulder and no sidewalk.
Woodstock itself is a great town to relax in. If you enjoy animals, try to check out the Woodstock Animal Sanctuary located nearby. There are several restaurants downtown, but grocery stores are a bit limited, so bring your own snacks & items you want to cook before you get there if you can. Also if arriving by car make sure to get very detailed directions. Turn off Tinker/212 is very hard to spot, and actually spotting the home itself is a bit difficult as well, even with GPS since cell towers are very spotty, so drive slow. Very cool house overall. I would definitely stay here again.
A group of my friends and I needed an escape from the city, and we couldnt have chosen a better place.
The backyard is beautiful, and despite the proximity of the other buildings, we felt totally alone.
The place is impeccably funished -- we had all our needs covered from bedding to cookware to patio furniture.
And though we felt secluded and peacefully free-- we were still able to walk into town for ice cream.
Wonderful. Would recommend any day.
I really enjoyed my stay at the Schoolhouse cottage. It is rustic and cozy. The restoration of the old wood makes it a perfect Woodstock environment. There is a lovely lawn, surrounded by woods and the best part is the beautiful river that runs through the property.
It is located 1/2 mile from the town of Woodstock which is a fun town with lots of stores, cafes, and characters. I look forward to another chance to visit this beautiful part of the Catskills soon!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at the studio for few days and the experience was awesome, the area is quite, relaxing and clean, plus the owners are such a good people, friendly and very courteous, we really enjoyed the 2 days expended there, i wish would be more. I do recommend this place, A+
