The Seahorse is one of two in-town sister 'cottages' in Boothbay Harbor the second, The Acorn, is our summer home. We refer to the property as the SeaCorn on Fisher Hill.

The Seahorse is so named for the majestic barn board and seashell seahorse, a Michael Lewis creation, that hangs in the master bedroom. This 500 square foot, single-level, two bedrooms (one queen-sized bed and one double bed), one bathroom cottage is nestled in the woods and in walking distance to all the harbor activities. Located at the end of a quiet road, the cottage provides a convenient, peaceful get away. Sit out on the farmer’s porch or side deck and relax after a busy day. The beautiful gardens and wooded area are perfect for bird and woodland creature watching. The garden swing is a great spot to enjoy a morning cup of coffee, read a good book or work on a crossword puzzle.

Boothbay Harbor and surrounding communities provide so many varied experiences throughout the year. Cottage owners are readily available to suggest activities that you might enjoy.

Quiet neighborhood, walking distance from town,

It is a small two bedroom duplex on a dead end street, just up the hill from town. The cottage is clean and neat and fully stocked. You only need your food. The owners stay in the other side and are helpful and friendly.

Perfect Boothbay Harbor Retreat

The Seahorse apartment was the perfect place to stay for our weekend adventure. Stephen and Susan are amazing hosts. They have everything you need to make the most of your stay in the area. They are the first VRBO hosts to walk through safety instructions, which I very much appreciated. The beds are unbelievably comfortable. Everything was clean and well decorated. They have lots of trinkets and art throughout, inside and out in their landscaped yard. We certainly recommend staying with them!! Thank you again for your hospitality Stephen and Susan. Perfect first Maine experience!

Super hosts. Super clean. Quiet setting and just a few minutes downhill to heart of town. Beautifully landscaped with peaceful outdoor sitting areas. Stephen and Susan were perfect hosts with great info about the area when we needed it. Botanical gardens, aquarium, and drive/walk to ocean point were our favorites in the area.

Excellent Boothbay lodging

Seahorse 17A: A charming and comfortable cottage. Beautiful gardens next to the woods. Serene and quiet, yet an easy walk to town. Loved the decorations and whimsical touches. Very comfortable beds. Great hosts...made sure our every need was met. They shared best places to eat, shop and enjoy in the area. Highly recommend this relaxing "retreat." Thanks for a lovely visit.

Stephen and Susan have enjoyed the Boothbay Peninsula for many years. The dream of owning a second home in the harbor was finally realized in 2008. At the time of purchase the property was in disrepair - since then the interior was remodeled, a new metal roof installed and front porch replaced. Retirees, both Stephen and Susan spend time enjoying the extensive gardens they worked hard to establish.

Stephen and Susan searched for an affordable second home in Maine every year during their vacation. They had nearly given up when Stephen discovered the property on line, it was about to fall into foreclosure. When they saw the well-constructed yet neglected house they envisioned a cozy Maine retreat. The duplex, the SeaCorn on Fisher Hill, has two updated sister cottages - The Acorn is their second home and the Seahorse the guest retreat. Stephen and Susan refurbished most of the interior themselves. In 2009 the grounds transformation began - front garden landscaping, drainage pathway, stone wall and side patio with two-seater swing have all added to the charm and curb appeal of the property. While located in-town, the Seahorse is nestled in the woods providing tranquility at the end of an adventurous day. Guests of the cottage have commented on the quiet setting and beautiful gardens.
