Small cabin, enormous views
This is a small, very quiet mountainside cabin next to the owner's house. It requires a 2 mile drive up a dirt & gravel road that takes
10 - 12 minutes. A 2 wheel car can handle it at 10 - 15 mph in good weather, 4 WD would be better & is suggested on a sign on the road. Louise's directions were spot on but it would have been even more helpful to have the house # painted on the wooden post at the driveway entrance out by the road rather than set in a bit up the driveway.
The cabin has 1 main bedroom with a queen bed, extra large pillows but very little storage space. There are 2 small tables across from the bed and a closet with no hangers. The a/c unit is right next to the left side of the bed & there is an outside door into the bedroom that has a small window with no shade on it so light pours in freely.
There is a loft up a tiny ladder that has a queen size mattress on the floor but the ceiling is so sharply angled that realistically only 1 adult can sleep there unless the 2nd person does not move so as to avoid hitting their head. The 5th sleeping space is a tiny alcove at the end of the loft where a small child, who is ok with small enclosed spaces, could sleep.
The kitchen is quite large and well stocked with a table & four chairs although 1 chair is blocked by the a/c unit. There is no sitting space to speak of (no living room or soft chairs) other than the kitchen table or the porch which has 2 Adirondack style chairs & a nice bench running along the railing.
The bathroom is small but adequate with a walk in shower. The basin is awkward to use due to the low hanging cupboard above it. There are plenty of nice thick towels. Shampoo & body wash are provided.
It would have been helpful to know that we also had to push the lock symbol in addition to the code to enter the cabin since the owners were not at home & did not answer our text. We figured it out & have let Louise know. Louise & Simon were home much of the time & Simon did check in on us our first night.
The sunsets and views are magnificent. We drove to some nice hikes. I would have loved to post some photos but do not see a way to do that. I would have loved to meet Louise in person also. Her home baked bread was a really nice treat on our next to last day.
Great Stay, Communicative property managers
Great cabin, loved the kitchen and washer and dryer. Not a fan of the gravel road, but that comes with the remoteness that we looked for. Very pretty view, and away from civilization, which is what we wanted.
Peaceful stay in mountains above Cedar City
My wife and 2 kids spent 3 fabulous days in this cabin in the hills above Cedar City.
Perfect location to get away from the hustle and bustle, but be close enough to drive to the Shakespearean festival (only 8 minutes to get down the hill) and visit the National Parks/Monuments in the nearby area.
The cabin was clean, contains many amenities, and had a great wraparound porch to watch the beautiful sunsets in the evening.
Comfortable for 4 guests. Highly recommend this property.
Great place! Louise and Simon were wonderful and attentive when we needed them. Views from balcony were amazing! The dirt road was fine as long as it was dry. One day it rained (it’s August) and the rental car,a Chevy Malibu, could not make it up the hill. We went to Cathedral Gorge State Park which is 80 miles west and totally worth the drive. By the time we got back the hill was dry enough that we made it up, but if that’s a concern for you definitely come in a four wheel drive vehicle. The cabin is clean and has plenty of kitchen space. There are no couches or chairs other than the table chairs. We didn’t mind it though because we used the cabin as a “hub” for hiking. There are plenty of trails of all skill levels within 2 hour radius. We really liked having the washer and dryer and were able to wash dirty hiking clothes each night. My favorite thing was the endless hot water, never had a cold shower! All in all, a great place if you are looking for a place to sleep and days out playing!
Wonderful as always!
Once again, we enjoyed our stay at this beautiful little cabin in the mountains over looking Cedar City. The location is so tranquil and the owners are so easy to work with. Thanks again for allowing us the enjoy your cozy cabin. We are looking forward to the next time!
