About the Building
First Residence was built over 100 years ago. Its successive uses were, among others, a hotel and Villa, In the 1930’s Lady Ducker purchased the property and the adjacent five acres when she converted the hotel into a residence. She was one of the foremost social doyens on the French Riviera and entertained and housed the likes of Pablo and Olga Picasso, Dorothy Parker, Dos Passos, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Cole Porter and Ernest Hemingway. If you go to the Beach at La Garoupe, you will note that this is where the social climate of the era began.
The Area (La Ponteil)
Is the very beginning of the Cap d’Antibes. You are in one of the most convenient and extraordinary locations in Western Europe. Moving from the inside out—5 minute walk to one of the sandiest beaches in the area, 10 minutes to Place de Gaulle or the town center, 10 minutes to Vieil Antibes or the old City (500 yrs old village and fortification), 10 minute walk to jumpin Juan Les Pins (amazing Jazz festivals in the summer),20 minutes to Nice or Cannes by rail or car, 30 minutes to Monaco, 40 minutes to Italy, 1.5 hours to the Alps and ski lifts!
