We were so pleased with our stay at this listing. The house was even better than described- the pictures we'd seen didn't do it justice! The view is beautiful, the house was clean and airy, the windows great for cross ventilation, the bedrooms cozy and nicely furnished. The yard is private and although there are houses nearby the woods in-between provide a sense of serenity. We like to cook and the kitchen was great and the grill a nice addition. The location is fabulous- just 5 minutes by car to our favorite beach and 25 minutes to Rockland. Wifi and a smart TV also nice perks and the sunsets beautiful.
The cottage is absolutely charming, the sunsets are front and center. We were able to bring our dog and had several guests join us over the 2 week period. There is much to do in the area but our guests asked to stay in and just relax. I love the rustic outdoor shower, others chose to use the indoor facilities. We visited Monhegan, shopped in Port Clyde and elsewhere, went to several restaurants, fancy and plain, there is a wonderful beach nearby not to mention the lighthouse, and Rockland is my favorite Maine almost-city. Don't miss the Farnsworth Museum, even if you don't get a rainy day. Getting into the water from the dock in front of the cottage is not as easy as you might want, you must watch the tide and plan accordingly. I love this part of Maine and haven't found a place to stay that is better. I am dreaming of returning soon.
The cottage on "the cove" was the perfect setting for a September week on the coast of Maine. Everything was as advertised and our hosts were accommodating to our needs. We look forward to the opportunity to enjoy this setting again in the future. Thank you Bill and Molly!
This home is such a unique and beautiful retreat, open and airy in concept yet tastefully decorated, offering privacy and serenty but surrounded by so much to do and explore. We enjoyed quiet evenings at home appreciating the well-appointed kitchen and waterfront fire circle after days of exploring Monhegan Island, Rockland and state parks, or splashing at Drift-in beach. My two sons had the best time running aroung the spacious lawn and searching for crabs at low tide, and swimming off the dock. Definitely bring your binoculars for bird watching! Lastly, this is a spectacular spot from which to enjoy the sunset, which became our we daily ritual. Thank you so much, we will be back!

Loved your cottage and all the thoughtful touches you provided. Family and friends loved it as we came up from texas to find relief from the heat. We all love the Port Clyde area and will definitely return. Its a good mix of quiet cove days and art, history and nature extursions. We made a point of eating a lobster a day and then would go over and hike around Monhegon Island to work it off. Your place is a gem to be enjoyed. Thanks
Dear Bill and Molly,
We just returned from a week stay (one week too short we've decided) at your cottage in Port Clyde. We thoroughly enjoyed every single minute, from the moment we walked into the door and felt the openness of the place and immediately viewed the ocean out of the back windows. We hadn't heard very much about Port Clyde or about the St. George area in general so this has opened up a whole new world to us. My parents joined us for a few days at the end of our stay and loved it just as much as we did. There seemed to be a lot to do in the area, but it was hard for us to get motivated to leave the cottage! My husband and I sat outside on the lawn watching sail & lobster boats go by, sat inside reading and watching the sun set, and took our baby boy to the Drift Inn Beach, a very picturesque spot, so he could dip his toes into the ocean for the first time. Just as you described, we found the The Dip Net restaurant on the wharf to be a fun, casual place to eat on the water and as an artist I enjoyed going to a few local openings -- there was plenty of variety. We really appreciated the care you have taken to decorate your place and make it feel so warm and inviting. It is obvious that this is a cottage that is well loved and we wanted to thank you for sharing it with other people.
