We enjoyed our stay very much! Great cabin, very clean, WOW! Canoeing was wonderful, great campfire! We will return! Very quite and peaceful!
Nice CLEAN cabin, good workout walk down and up to and from lake. Wife gives two thumbs ip for clean, well-maintained cabin. Excellent communication from owners and site caretakers, we thank you. Excellent location for day trips to coast too. By the way clean quite lake too.
This was one of our best vacations! We spent the week on the lake in perfect weather. The kids (ages 9 and 6) spent much of their time jumping off the end of the dock and collecting rocks to bring home. The sound of the loons was amazing and new to us. We enjoyed many hours in the canoe exploring the lake and the island we found. We even found a rock jutting out of the lake with a huge turtle sunbathing! We only left one day to go on a whale watching tour out of Bar Harbor. I would suggest it to anyone, just be careful of getting sea-sick. My husband did not do too well, but the rest of us got the experience of a lifetime. We can't wait to come back, maybe to check out what autumn has to offer! Thank you Barbara and to our other hosts, Debbie and Becca, it was nice meeting you.
We stayed on an October weekend when the fall colors were grorgeous! A very special place, tucked away privately in the woods close to Sheepscot Pond (easy walk to shore and dock). We enjoyed canoeing on the lake, relaxing, and even finding some heirloom apple trees nearby, with the result being some delicious applesauce! The owner was VERY friendly, helpful, and made sure we had a great stay. Highly recommended!
We highly recommend this cabin to all those interested. There are two screened porches, great for drinking coffee (or the beverage of your choice) and listening to the sounds of the loons. It is hard to see the lake from the cabin (lots and lots of trees) but that added to the charm of seclusion. The lake was beautiful. Be careful on the path leading to the lake as it is a little steep for the feeble and elderly. Children and the physically fit (and somewhat fit) will do just fine. The driveway is off the beaten path and is about a half mile drive back from the road. You feel like you are in the wilderness. The cabin itself was clean, well kept and well stocked. I loved all the polished wood (floors, walls and ceiling). You can't help but notice the pride of ownership. There are many afghans to snuggle into on those cool evenings. For those interested in TV, please note the satellite does not pick up local stations (although there is a slightly older/fuzzier TV in the loft that does). The cabin location was ideal for us. We wanted to see as much of Maine as possible during our 6 day stay. We visited Belfast (try the restaurant at the end of Rt. 3, right on the water), Bangor, Old Town, Waterville, Augusta, Camden, Bucksport, Freeport (L.L.Bean), and our highlight - Arcadia National Park and Bar Harbor (best chowder I have ever had!). It would have been easy to spend a full day at Arcadia as well as L.L. Bean. (Maybe...just maybe... Kevin will tell you his L.L. Bean joke!) All cities mentioned previously are an easy drive from the cabin and the scenery was great. We tried to stay off the major highways and instead took the backroads which were well marked (MOST of the time!) I would definitely return and/or rent from this owner again. Enjoy your stay! We did! Richard & Julie Brown and Jim & Sandy Holes.
I am originally from Maine and wanted a true Maine experience for my family vacation. This place was great...it far exceeded our expectations. It is very clean and offers great amenities for being so secluded. The owners were very helpful and accessible for any questions we had. We spent the week floating on the pond and doing daytrips to visit family and Acadia National Park. I highly recommend this rental. The cabin is truly in a serene secluded environment. The owners have done a great job providing wonderful lodgings in such seclusion. Fishing is also great on the pond!
