The exterior of the property is very nice. The problem is the inside. Dishwasher leaking on the floor, so you can't use it. Drain in shower is not working, so you take a bath in the shower. It was really disgusting. Toaster is not working. Lot of small things unusable. Wi- if was not working most of the time. Bathrooms were not really clean. Owner tried to make up for the defiencies but he needs to fix and clean the place. It could be very nice but it needs a lot of update.
We recently stayed at Villa Lalla in September 2015, a party of 4 girlfriends. We were only there for 6 days, but we had a fantastic time and wished we could stay longer. The owner, Maurizio, was incredibly helpful and he showed us all around the villa late on Saturday when we arrived. He was on hand for us every day whenever we had a question. In the evenings we would enjoy the villa after sightseeing the amazing Amalfi coast, cooking local meat and fish, even fresh vegetables that Maurizio had given us from his garden, accompanied by plenty of the local wines (and Limoncello) we had collected on our travels around Italy. Even though we made a lot of noise singing late into the night he was kind enough to leave us to it!! He also arranged a boat trip for us along the Amalfi coast. The day was fabulous and started with a ride on his bike into Sant' Agata for some of the freshest, (made that morning) and tastiest mozzarella. He then came back and expertly made our Mozzarella and tomato baguettes with tomatoes and herbs from his garden for the boat trip. We had a truly relaxing day soaking up the scenery while Maurizio steered us around the coast, it was the perfect last day before we headed back to Rome. We are very thankful to Maurizio for his kindness to us, not only in helping pay our parking fine and washing our windscreen before we left, but for letting us be loud and crazy and have the most wonderful holiday at Villa Lalla.
Thanks again Maurizio.
The USA and UK girls!
We are a family of 5 (children 6,8,9) and stayed during July (temp 34-38). The children Loved the pool and the outdoor dining space, although a little disappointed we didn't use the pizza oven as it takes days to heat up. The Villa is spacious and on 3 floors (3 beds top, 1 bed middle), there is a pool table, games to play and a TV as evening entertainment. Everything was very clean and well stocked. There is ample secure parking as the villa is in beautiful, well maintained grounds behind electric gates. The villa is very rustic and you get a real sense of homeliness. The longer we stayed the more we fell in love with the villa.
Marizio, who owns the villa, is really friendly and on hand for any issues as he lives in the grounds. The highlight of our holiday was spending the day on a boat captained by Marizio. He was brilliant with the children and very informative while still giving privacy to the family holiday.
The only downside was no air conditioning only fans in each room. Overall the villa is good value for money and in a lovely location.
After spending the day at the beach in Positano,
it was great to come back to such a quiet and peaceful retreat. Trees and lush foliage in every direction you look. If you're looking for something away from the crowds, but still centrally located, this is the right choice.
My family and I (6 total) pick this place for the tranquil spot and away from the crowds of Sorrento. Very clean and comfortable! Maurizio was very friendly and helpful. He stayed in a little bungalo/tent on the property but made sure we had our privacy! I got a parking ticket the 2nd night in town and did not have time to pay the ticket before leaving and Maurizio took care of it for me! That's customer service!! The pool is small and only 4.5 feet deep, but refreshing! Place was well equipped and all we needed was a few groceries which was only about 2 miles away. Great value for the money too!
We stayed at Villa Lalla for a week over Easter and were initially drawn to it by the excellent reviews and the fact that it looked like an interesting property. Imagine how happy we were to find that everything we had read about turned out to be true in reality. Maurizio was a truly outstanding host - he came to guide us to the property very late on Saturday night, and went out of his way to ensure that we had provisions for our first breakfast the next morning. Then on Sunday (Easter Sunday) he took us to the local supermarket to make sure that we would be set for the next few days. While we were too early in the season for the swimming pool to be ready (it was too cold, and none of the houses or hotels had filled their pools either), we did make a lot of use of the pool table - just the thing to keep the family entertained. Whenever we had a question Maurizio was on hand to see us right, and I would have no hesitation in returning if and when we next travel to Sorrento. Be aware that you will definitely need to have a car if you are staying at Villa Lalla since it is about 15 minutes away from downtown Sorrento, but the wonderful view and the hillside tranquility more than make up for being away from the hustle and bustle. The nearest small town of Sant Agata Due Golfi is about 3 minutes away and has everything you'd need on a day to day basis - including a Michelin starred restaurant if you've just won the lottery!
