Great place for the family!

This is a great house in great condition. It was open and airy, very tastefully decorated and full of Vermont charm. We especially enjoyed the deck overlooking the lake. The outdoor area is very well maintained and makes you feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The owner Jackie is very friendly and went out of her way to make us feel at home.

This house is a great place for the family - kids spent all their time outside playing with the most friendly and gentle farm animals, biking, swimming and fishing! Kids (ages 16, 15, 6 and 2) just didn't want to leave :)

Loved the area, plenty of stuff to do, great local attractions. Would go back in a heartbeat!

So beautiful and paceful place

We needed a time for our family to get together away from the city life. We found this place and Jackie was so special that made this work; I am so thankfull that this really happened. I cannot describe and thank enough as the time we lived there was one of the best I will remember. All about the house, it farm look, the details in every room and specially the lake were fabulose.

It as close as you want from other activities if that is what you want, but far enough from day to day life. I am looking forward for a next time there. It is a place where you cannot do anything but love it.

Clean house, clean bathrooms, different layout, very family oriented.

Return to the peace of a bygone era

This is not a rental, it is a home with life and personality! Jackie, the owner, is lively and funny and always working on her beautiful farm. Our toddler grandchild loved playing with gentle Buster, petting Freebie, and watching the horses and donkey. The location is great! Able to make quick trips to Burlington and Montreal. Charming small towns provide variety of grocery stores with fresh seafood, baked goods, and local vegetables and fruit. The clean, beautiful state park beach is one mile away and has shallow water for toddlers to enjoy. Across the road from the farmhouse is a pier and smaller beach, if you don't want to drive. It is great to look out the windows or sit on the porch and see the lake. Friendly bikers and walkers wave and say hello. There is such a warm sense of community and belonging. The house is open and welcoming with a large, shady front lawn that is great for chasing kids and playing games. Spacious and open interior with comfortable beds. This is the place to reconnect with your spouse and kids and your sanity! We left fully relaxed and sorry to say goodbye!

An amazing, picturesque dream vacation

My wife and I just got back from our stay at this farmhouse, and I would say that without a doubt it was by far the best place we have ever stayed. The house was painstakingly renovated by Jackie, who has an eye for detail and an appreciation for good craftsmanship. Each of the rooms (and there seemed to be endless rooms) were all miniature studies in rustic splendor. The kitchen lacked nothing, and our meager spices and cookware remained in the car. The living room was spacious, with a comfortable couch and plenty of chairs to entertain. The wood stove was very romantic, as was the easterly view of the lake, allowing one to see the moon and and it's lake reflection. The place was immaculately clean and well maintained.

Jackie welcomed us heartily during the week, treating us as old friends. Being a native islander, she was very knowledgeable about the area, giving us plenty of good ideas for things to do. She even provided us with great tasting plums, pickings from a small garden another vacationer had set up, and got us duck eggs too!

While we were there, Jackie had 2 horses, a dog and a cat each one more adorable than the next. I have always been a little skittish around dogs, not liking to be licked, and the dog (a little beagle whose name is Buster - a dog so famous in town he has a street named after him and everybody seemed to know him) was very relaxed,and would sit to be petted, but didn't jump up and lick you like most dogs I've encountered.

While we were there we went canoeing a handful of times, which was very pleasant. We caught a sunset and sunrise on the lake that was amazing. We also enjoyed a seaplane ride that is available down the street a little bit. There are some very interesting antique shops in the area also.

The house was easily found off of a main street (US rte 2, which I believe is a scenic byway, and a quite beautiful one at that!) and was about 45 minutes to Burlington, which is a nice little college town.

We enjoyed good meats (marinated steak tips and italian sausages), from a little grocery shop down the street, an pizza with about a dozen toppings from McKee's in South Hero, and ice cream in what has to be the most comprehensive General store called "A Hero's Welcome".

I can't recommend this place enough. We had a memorable vacation and are considering going back next year with some friends
