Carissa Beach House is a vacation rental on Anna Maria Island (between Tampa & Sarasota), situated about 350 steps from a beach access to the wonderful beaches of the Gulf of Mexico. Private patio surrounded by flowers to relax, read or enjoy a meal. Outside shower to rinse sand off. Two beach chairs are available but no beach umbrella.
Restaurants, post office, shops are in walking distance. Delivery services available.
Water sports, fishing, tennis, golf, scuba diving, jet skiing, cycling & much more.
Ideal location for many excursions: Orlando, St Petersburg, Fort Myers, Sanibel, Mineral Springs, Myakka State Park etc...
Owner speaks English, French and German.
Month rental preferred for February and March.
Local Taxes = 12% which are:
7% State tax
5% County/Resort tax
NO CLEANING FEE so travelers are expected to clean the apartment before they leave. Inventory list & cleaning list to be signed before departure. Before next arrival, I personally go over the whole house to make sure that cleanliness is to my high standards & make sure knobs, switches, handles etc... are properly disinfected.
Mattress protector, pillow protectors, blanket, bed spread, are washed before EACH new arrival, as well as bedroom & bathroom rugs.
IMPORTANT:
When sending a rental request, please CONFIRM that you have carefully read house rules & rental agreement. This will avoid any disappointment or misunderstanding to both parties.
Coin laundry facility in walking distance.
Hairdryer: ask the owner.
Free WiFi.
The house is a duplex. I, the owner, live at the front of the property. Carissa Beach House is at the back of the property.
Guests have their own parking spot off the street. NO possibility to charge an electric golf cart.

Carissa beach house review.

Nice place to stay for 2 adults. Quiet location short walk to the beach and downtown area with restaurants, nightlife,stores and bicycle rentals. Bed was comfortable pillows not so much, very flat without support. Also outdoor shower is not enclosed and has cold water only. One very low sand chair and one very low beach chair provided. You may want to rent more comfortable chairs if you are planning on sitting in them on the beach for more than 30 minutes at a time..that's even if you can lower yourself into that position. Apartment has everything you require for a nice stay. Loved the available Styrofoam cooler for cold drinks at the beach. Also enjoyed the provided local newspaper.

Quiet and Well-Located

This little cottage was just right for my husband and me. It was obvious that the owner had put lots of thought into furnishing it so absolutely everything you needed was there, but no clutter. The location couldn't have been better--in a quiet neighborhood but steps from the beach and shops. The owner, Snoopy, is firm about the requirements she has listed, but if you respect the property, everything is fine.We would definitely stay again.

Not for us

Great location, but we felt watched by the host at all times. If you are looking for a vacation with no interaction and mutually exclusive and often silly rules, this is not the place for you.

Beware! Worst vacation rental and property owner ever

If you are allergic to mold, you do not want to rent this place. The moment we walked in the scent was so bad we couldn’t take it. Everything in the place is extremely old and dated. No matter how hard you try to clean this place, it’s filthy. The owner/property manager has rules that are conflicting. What is posted on Verbo, in her binder, and what she states to you are all different rules. This was not a restful stay, but we were constantly harassed by the owner, and then, when we had to leave to go stay a couple of nights, because my niece had a medical emergency, when we returned to the property she had removed All of our groceries, threw them out and cleaned the place even though we had not vacated the premises. We did not feel we had to share our personal information with her as to where we were, she assumed we left and she went into the unit on our paid time and removed our possessions and groceries. Towels, linens, bedding, kitchen ware appliances, couch everything in this place is extremely old and cheap and filthy. I would not recommend this property to anyone. If I could give less than one star I would . This woman, and this place should not be allowed as a vacation rental. We have a rental property ourselves, so we know what it takes to make customers happy. This experience was far from happy. Beware, stay away!

I have been renting my property Carissa Beach House since 1993. In 1995, it was the 2nd property on the island to go online with Cyberrentals (beginning of the web!). Cyberrentals was sold to HomeAway many years later. HomeAway is now VRBO.
I worked 20 years with IBM in Belgium, a little chocolate kingdom in the middle of Europe where I grew up.

I am not far away to get help within decent hours of course.
The rate is very reasonable for the island.
